This doesn't surprise me - Qantas kick off The Veronicas

About the only thing that would have made it mildly entertaining or interesting would have been if we had of all started singing "you're going home in the back of a divvy van" while the AFP were escorting them off the plane. Dunno why I didn't think of that actually.

Wasn't planning on being on that flight, but my delayed inbound flight meant that I missed my booked connection. Frankly I could have done without the circus as I'm not the sort of person that is really interested in celebrities or UFC etc - I once bumped into Mick Jagger and David Bowie and had no idea who they were (much to everyone else's amusement).

Sorry for going off topic but your post reminded me of me, and my lack of knowledge of stars. I once got into a bit of a "physical altercation" with some thugs at Medellin airport in Colombia. They were trying to bulldoze riffraff like me out of the way for their benefactors. I was losing that particular engagement, but felt an extremely rare moment of knowledge when when I realised that their people were the Williams sisters (of tennis fame) :) That particular event was not a biggie for me, but it does make me acutely aware of just how important some people seem to think they are.

Hmm just to prove how "C-grade" they are - I saw a pic somewhere and said oh they look familiar ... a quick trawl of their wiki page made me realise I went to school with them! So yeah no idea about their music. Other than memories of them singing at the local shopping centres!

The very fact that they haven't released the unedited footage suggests to me that they have something to hide. Bit like the other thread on here where some bloke had a disagreement with getting into the QP and had footage of the incident to "back up his version of events" but wouldn't share it. Enough said IMHO.

Slightly off topic,
I'm not a regular traveler , maybe 3 times per year,
But i get different policies for laptops needed to take out when putting through the scanner

I have a hp x360 and 80% of the time dont take it out as i believe its a tablet, and tablets dont require to be taken out

Some staff say its not a laptop
Some say if its got a kb its a laptop

Very random for me

That's a very good point - the laptops screening policy feels very inconsistent now.

Not sure why they needed the cabin crew names. If you decide to make a complaint, then include the flight number and date. Management can then investigate. How many cabin crew on a 737? Four?

A bit worrying about the need to video. If needed as possible evidence, then why not release the evidence?

Also, I googled The Veronicas out of curiosity, having never heard of them before this.: Twin sisters, Lisa and Jessica Ongliasso, performed as The Twins, now The Veronicas, been around since 2004, and launched their exclusive fashion line only available at Target stores. Not sure where they do their gigs.

I saw them at an Australia Day concert at the Opera House. Everyone else who performed was really outstanding (Guy Sebastian, David Campbell, Jessica Mauboy, Russell Morris etc)
The Veronicas came across as pretty arrogant and we didn’t enjoy their music at all....but hey, that’s just personal taste and our feeling of their attitude. I’d be prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt IF they provide the unedited version of their filming. Clever editing can always tell an entirely different story!

I am also only 5’1” and I’ve never had a problem stowing my luggage overhead on a 737. The biggest challenge I have is the businessmen stealing my overhead space when I’m in row 1 or 2 and too lazy to board early!

I was trying to be as silly as the question......and I guess I succeeded!

I was being serious. You made some pretty broad statements/accusations/assumptions about how celebrities think and act.

‘Social influencers’ (self proclaimed) may be closer to your assumptions. But celebrities?

The article states the FA indicated they're not allowed to handle passenger's luggage....!?!? Yet I've seen crew handle passenger's hand luggage on many of my flights. This type of inconsistency in messaging is ridiculous. What do we make of it? 1. this FA is blatantly lying? 2. Other crew member's are breaking the rules when they handle luggage? In either result, the crew are at fault and applying the rules inconsistently.
I flew with QF recently on a pretty standard domestic leg. Witnessed a similar initial situation than is reported, but in this case the 50-something female was looking for somewhere to place her carryon. She finally found somewhere around 26C (in a 737-800), but was unable to claim the spot due to her height (est 155cm).

She asked the nearest FA (early 50s male and visually fit as a scrub bull) for assistance. He responded that FAs were unable to assist pax with storing their overhead carryon as it was an OHAS issue. He reiterated this again to be clear, and informed her that should could also stow it under her seat. At this point I offered to help, but was in 28C and boarding was such that I couldn't push against the onboarding traffic. Some other person claimed the empty spot before I could get there, but the lady thanked me all the same.

Another FA (late 30s female) around the middle of the cabin asked what was going on, and the nearest one informed her that they needed to stow a carryon item. The female FA politely took the bag and stowed it overhead around the middle of the aircraft.

Talk about inconsistency at it's best!

Seems like some work to rule, and some use common sense!

It fits the narrative and requirement to leave all carryons behind in an emergency...😉

But the OHS issue is not 1x10kg but the repeated lifting of unknown weights above shoulders.

Just a heads up - I'm going to unsubscribe from receiving more email notifications for this thread as its starting to take up a bit too much of my time - more time than those girls warrant.

How is lifting, at most, 10kg about one's head an OHAS issue? Surely if you're not fit enough to do that, you're not going to be much use in an emergency?
Doing this for lets say 50 bags a flight, 4 times a day, 5 days a week for many years, then you easily have workers comp claims.
If you are unable to carry on your own bag and stow it yourself, check it in. It's FREE on QF!

Try being on a multi-sector roster, on your feet hours per day, pushing heavy carts up & down hill due to the inclination of the plane, performing a multitude of physical duties per day plus many travellers asking you to lift their bags throughout the day up to and down from overhead lockers. In most instances its only the customers who have the heaviest bags who can't manage them themselves that ask. Often these bags are actually overweight because they haven't been weighed before boarding.

Also has to be remembered, that most cabin crew are not tradies, they are not physical people. They are usually petite females and who don't have any muscle. The amount of legitimate injuries that cabin crew have been occuring on board is actually on the rise due to people not lifting their own heavy bags into the lockers and it comes a time where enough is enough. If you can't look after your own possessions on board an aircraft then check them in, it's really that simple.
