I dare say they specifically select the incidents that make the pax look like idiots and therefor the public think "oh well maybe all the horror stories I've heard are just dropkicks like these guys".

I'm still yet to see the episode where the ROK-MEL flight abandoned half a planeload of passengers!

I dunno, the host explains it all to show the passengers are in the wrong when things go wrong, but it still reflects badly on them IMO. Especially having passengers late to the check-in counter by only a minute week after week, with no lee-way at all.

They can kid themselves all they want that it shows Tiger in a positive!

The real question is - does Tiger want to be shown in a positive light? They market themselves as a dirt cheap travel option and mostly tell people what they are up for ... A show like this, just re-enforces the fact to many people so that they don't expect much.

Ryanair uses a similar tactic, and does very well from it.
 
Well at least there was a sensible family on there (the Harbour Bridge Climbers), who missed the flight, asked about the change fee and coughed up.

(Although some would argue that climbing the Harbour Bridge is sensible...)

They moved on from the fact that they missed the airport bus, and got over it (well, that is what was portrayed on the TV ;)).
 
And if he had of opted to pay the insurance "safe handling" fee would he have still been asked to sign the same liability release?

That'd be good, pay us a fee to safely handle your baggage, but sign thsi liability because if it breaks were not taking any responsibility. :shock: :rolleyes: Makes a bit of a joke of the safe hanlding fee really.

No idea what was being referred to but the limited release is no different to what Qantas uses. Take fragile goods and the airline is not responsible for damage

Apart from the shirt dad was wearing when he checked in for the second time-did you read the message-for a moment i thought it might have him kicked off especially as before the break it said one family member would miss the bridge climb.

The problem Tiger have in general, and with people on these forums, is that people praise service staff that bend the rules as giving good customer service. Tiger rigidly enforces its rules, and people complain about poor customer service.

If nothing else, all potential Tiger PAX should watch the show as an educational experience, and learn that if you don't follow instructions to the letter, it's going to cost you.

If you continually give up that minute then you may as well make the last check-in 44 minutes before a flight.

There is nothing wrong with them enforcing the rules as printed on their pre flight paperwork. Taken to the extreme then people would start complaining about flights then being late.

I don't like Tiger but there are a few things that they actually do well.

What I took out of that incident was before it started the host said you could buy fares ADL to SYD for $39, yet when they made their change it ended up costing them $70 per person. One thinks that maybe they should have checked online how much a new ticket would cost ;)

That shirt actually refers to Tiger Woods. It did look very odd to be wearing it on Tiger Airlines, but does not refer to the airline.

It changes the claim that if everyone checked-in 1 minute later the flights would be late, because in reality they’re already later than a minute and that’s with fewer passengers flying as many didn’t get to the check-in desk in time :p

Sorry I thought it was funny they arrived late in last nights episode, and sorry I thought it was funny that some guys wine was smashed in the luggage hold, I’ll try not to comment next week so every post I make doesn’t get pounced on! :rolleyes:

Methinks "Rose" and "John" might have been at the Pub before checkin (as well as during the delay).

Frankly, I think Tiger shouldnt have carried them - and especially then show so on tv. It just encourages others to behave the same. I thought the manager handled it well (ie. go outside, cool down, then come back), but I felt sorry for the checkin agent - did you see him nearly collapse as he walked out the back after dealing with their tirade?

I wonder what staff turnover is like for Tiger in MEL??
 
At $68 one way BNE-ADL for OzFest I am seriously looking at Tiger, the timing is great being a noon flight and is 1/4 the price of QF, maybe I need to go have a coffee and wake up a bit more :)

Well as long as you arrive a few hours before departure time and don’t intend to take any check-in, it’s not the worst idea. Plus you may be featured on the show, will you be the first AFFer? :p

Please, we all knew the art gallery John runs was really some form of lane way underground drinking establishment located somewhere in Melbourne.

From the narrative, it looked like they rocked up at 8am - and they were so drunk even Boris Yeltsin would have looked at these two in disgust. Much in the same way Keith Richards would likely shake his head when hearing stories of trading room staff snorting all manner of wonderful powders at the crack of dawn (sent up masterfully by The Chaser team one season).

Both of them should have been given a swift booting out of the terminal and never allowed to return - unless they wish for the viewing public to point and laugh at them the next time they try.

I haven't watched the show, as I fail to see the point of such progammes, although going by many of the comments on this thread it appears giving some people a feeling of smug superiority is one of them.

Personally I will not fly either Tiger or Jetstar because both are unreliable, but as has been said before, you get what you pay for.

I think that Tiger are coprrect in standing firm on their "rules", and wish other airlines would do likewise, especially concerning the amonut and size of cabin baggage!

It's a trainwreck, ie, you can't help but feel compelled to watch it no matter how nasty it is.

I feel no sense of superiority when watching these shows. It's simply a case of different strokes. Also, it's a great lesson in how to *not* behave.

It's cringe-worthy, but if people don't read the rules, don't turn up on time, and don't fall in with the policies of the carrier they booked a ticket on, and get filmed disputing it, it's certainly making me feel better about my decision to fly an airline with better customer service (although some people would dispute that QF's CS is still pretty lackluster).

I agree, but I think the show has the opposite effect.

Despite their behavioural/intoxication issues, the John/Rose issue pretty much hits Tiger's problems on the head - inflexible obligations on the customer to meet advance checkin times coupled with a complete mess when it comes to on-time departure, the result being risking wasting a whole day in transit rather than being at your destination.

Of course, people will still want to fly Tiger for their prices, but when they're bombarded with segments showing similar travellers stung time and time again by Tiger (without the assistance provided by an EasyJet, as noted above), I would have thought they'd eventually start to factor in these negative experiences and start to consider alternatives that give them the scope to enjoy their holiday sooner, rather than wasting half of it at airports.

I know no one ever got rich underestimating the stupidity of their audience, but I actually would imagine that a show like this would have the net effect of discouraging people from flying Tiger rather than 'educating them' about what to expect.
