Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

On Sunday 12 June TT582, the 0700 MEL - CNS took off at 0741 and should arrive at about 1056, 31 minutes late with plane A320 VH-XUG.

On Friday 17 June 2016, TT211, the 0640 hours from SYD down to MEL was still in the early stages of taxiing at 0728 so it will be late into the southern capital despite the 95 minute gate-to-gate schedule.

Between 1730 and 1846 hours on Sunday 19 June, BNE airport had 40 millimetres of rain - very heavy. Between 1430 and 1921 tonight, SYD airport has had 20 millimetres of rain - far from insignificant.

The 1805 hours from SYD up to BNE, TT382, took off at 1829 but is holding over OOL with arrival in the rainy Queensland capital expected at roughly 2009, 34 minutes late. Aircraft is A320 VH-XUG.

The 1825 hours MEL - SYD, Tt264 (A320 VH-VNF) took off at a very late 2024 hours and should pull in to the NSW capital airport's terminal at about 2136, 106 minutes late.

At 2222 hours, TT279, the 2025 hours SYD down to MEL was still at its SYD gate, so it needed to depart fairly soon to beat the curfew.

TT213 has had a delayed start to its Monday 20 June 2016 morning with its 0700 hours timetabled departure contrasting with its achieved 0802 takeoff, for a likely arrival in wet MEL at 0933, 58 minutes late for A320 VH-XUG.

Tt511 (0640 hours BNE - MEL) was not airborne until 0736 and should pull in to the terminal gate at roughly 0947, 42 minutes late. Aircraft is A320 VH-VNO.

UPDATE: TT703, the 1125 from CFS to MEL took off late at 1306 and should arrive at about 1510, 110 minutes late. VH-XUG, an A320, is the aircraft that notably has lost significant time on the schedules since it arrived ex TT213 58 minutes late in MEL, as above. This is an example of wet weather in the form of reduced visibility at MEL resulting in delays compounding.

On a wintry Thursday 30 June 2016 in MEL with at least minor hail briefly in some suburbs at around 1630 hours, TT471, the 1720 hours MEL across to ADL took off at 1811 with arrival suggested as 1902 rather than 1815. Plane is A320 VH-VNC.

TT263, the 1725 hours SYD - MEL was airborne at 1833 with VH-VNG suggested as arriving at 1955, 50 minutes late.

On Friday 1 July, TT703, the 1105 CFS - MEL took off at 1217 with predicted arrival at about 1407 instead of 1302 hours, 65 minutes behind schedule. Aircraft is A320 Vh-VNO.

Tuesday 5 July 2016 sees TT681, the 1540 hours from CNS to SYD having taken off at 1643 with arrival of A320 VH-VNK expected as about 1915 hours, 40 minutes behind time.

On a windy Sunday 10 July 2016 in MEL, TT504, the 1940 hours HBA up to MEL took off at 251; A320 VH-VNQ should arrive at around 2201, 61 minutes late.

Monday 11 July sees TT213 in a hold over Mt Buller (Vic) at 0850 hours as this 0700 SYD down to MEL flight did not take off until 0745. the predicted arrival of about 0916, 41 minutes late will be with unwanted Virgin Group child A320 VH-VNK.

TT212, the 0755 MEL - SYD is having a shocker of a day on 11 July. It was not in the air until 1302; arrival is expected at around 1409 hours this afternoon instead of 0925 this morning, four hours and 44 minutes late or to put it another way, more than three times the scheduled gate-to-gate flight time of 85 minutes northbound.

Flagship flight TT1, the Wednesday 13 July 0905 hours MEL to DPS did not take off until 1020, so arrival of B738 VH-VUB is not forecast until 1412, 42 minutes late.

Tt221 (0845 hours SYD - MEL) took off at 0936. A320 VH-VNF should arrive at about 1059, 39 minutes behind time.

On the evening of 13 July, TT18 (1440 hours DPS - PER) looks to be about four hours late with arruval expected at 2237 tonight WA time. VH-VUB is the B738, which in the previous post was on today's less seriously delayed TT1 from MEL up to DPS.

Interesting that an aircraft from Melbourne to Bali can end up in Perth at the end of the day.

Sunday 17 July sees TT562 (1300 hours MEL north to OOL) not having been in the sky until 1417 with consequent arrival of A320 VH-VNF suggested as 1553 hours, 48 minutes late.

On a windy Monday 18 July 2016 in MEL with recorded gusts of 47 to 57 kilometres an hour and a foggy morning in SYD, TT206 (A320 VH-VNQ), the 0645 hours from MEL to SYD did not take off until 0910 with arrival in SYD at about 1018 being 123 minutes late.

Many other domestic flights, not just TT, are badly delayed and lots have been cancelled.

Buzzard, many thanks. These cancellation and delay threads are intended as a general guide: they will never be a perfect suggestion as to what may occur in the future with flight X but some flights can be consistently late, others constantly on time or close to it. None of us can monitor every half hour-plus delay or cancellation and record it.

The threads are assisted greatly if when you travel and experience a delay of say more than 30 minutes you update the relevant page. Of most interest is what you were told and how you were treated, particularly if there was a cancellation, or a severe delay of an hour or more. Like all public transport, airlines can be perceived well when there are no delays, when one's luggage arrives promptly on the conveyor belt and when one receives an aisle seat if that has been requested. It is when there are cancellations or delays (not all being an airline's fault) that the travel experience can become variable. TT has had a major focus on improving its previous disastrous punctuality. It is now JQ that is dragging the chain, and which is a particularly poor performer on the 'top five worldwide route' that in terms of patronage is SYD - MEL - SYD. Many may remember the airline reality show that portrayed the previously named Tiger Airlines in such a negative way: Tigerair has since smartened its act. It needed to, as at one stage it had a CEO who appeared to sneer at paying passengers with a care factor of close to zero.

On Friday 22 July, TT703, the 1105 CFS down to MEL (A320 VH-XUH) was in the sky at 1159; arrival should be about 63 minutes behind at 1403.

On Sunday 24 July 2016, TT536, the 1830 MEL up to BNE was airborne at exactly 1930 with A320 VH-VNH likely to arrive at the gate at about 2119 tonight, 34 minutes behind schedule.

The Monday 1 August TT213 (0700 hours SYD - MEL, A320 VH-VNH) took off at 0738, about 20 minutes late, but was slowed down by ATC thanks to the inclement weather in MEL. Arrival should be about 40 minutes late at 0915.

Due to volcanic ash in the Bali, Indonesia region, TT19, the 2030 Monday 1 August PER - DPS northbound has been cancelled.

TT11 from ADL to DPS may also have got the gong.

At least one media outlet suggests that further flights (not just Tigerair) may be cancelled on Tuesday 2 August.
