Tokyo Haneda slot - 2025

They need to reduce A330 flying (somewhere) to allow the planned cabin upgrade. They could also resume service to KIX or CTS. There is nothing saying they need (or want) to maintain a 4th daily AU-TYO flight once the MEL and BNE flights shift to HND.
Qantas has announced cessation of their Korea flights and reduction in the BNE-LAX utilisation mid 2025 when the Reno’s start. Qantas has said something about gaining the slot
Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said the airline is “very pleased at today’s IASC determination”.

“With this third frequency, we plan to be the only airline to connect Australia’s three major east coast cities with Haneda Airport – right in the heart of downtown Tokyo,” he stated.

“Now that we have approval from the IASC, we will apply for slots at Haneda for flights from Melbourne and Brisbane and, subject to this process, plan to go on sale towards the end of the year.
Once they get official approval for the flights we will see timetable changes including the NRT SYD flights, probably next month.

LOL, we didn’t have to stay at the airport for our recent trip, we left our hotel at 6, were in the lounge playing with the beer robot by 7. Given we were on a week long trip we kept our bodies on Syd time which was 8 when we left the hotel so no biggie. HND was a breeze at that time of the morning in all aspects.
HND has seasonal slot issues for departures in the morning. An increase in domestic morning flights required a time change for the morning QF departure, which has been around 0830 for some periods and before 0700 at others.

Departures at HND before 7am can be annoying as the trains don't start until around 5am and check in requirements for pre 7am flights often mean that you need to arrive at the airport before the trains start.
The HND night bus network has not resumed its pre covid operation levels, requiring many people with early morning flights to either arrive at HND on the last train and overnight at the airport, book a night at a nearby hotel or get an overly expensive taxi.

Perhaps but QFs main market would be Aussies, Id expect the Japanese locals more likely to fly ANA or JAL.

If one is going to arrive exhausted having been up for over 24 hours straight; then you end up dozing on on day one of that tour.
Watching QF25 boarding right now. Its about 1/3 JP and 2/3 Aussies.

I imagine part of it is that QF is also on OW which for the JL crowd, if the one JL departure doesn't suit them, they take QF.

Perhaps the day time QF59 flight and evening Q26 has more aussies and less JP due to it overlapping closer to the JL flight.
