Thanks for that, PLANT. But even 10% off would still leave TID near to double what I could find with a closely similar policy with one of the Allianz underwritten insurers. TID appear to apply a very hefty age loading.

Have you tried Worldcare for older travellers?

TID is brilliant at claims but few have good premiums for older people.

Is it possible to buy an annual policy and exclude north america? we aren't planning on going back there for at least the next couple of years...

I was about to buy some insurance for a trip this weekend however upon thinking I've got a fair bit of travel over the next 12 months.

What's the best value annual policy for two people? Ages 27 for both.

I would say TID. They are the only one I can find who cover a couple, but allow them to travel separately.

TID have almost doubled in price for me compared with last year, courtesy of separating skiing from the bog standard annual package. With a TID discount they no longer add up.

Has TID released new codes historically in late November each year?
Anyone kept a record or know if this has occurred for Christmas?

After purchasing travel insurance for upcoming US trip, at the bottom of the receipt email from TID was:

Friends and Family
Help your family and friends save on their travel insurance by sending them the campaign code TIDFAF for a discount.

Yeah we have that...not as good as TIDTHANKS code
Hurry up TID and release the Christmas code.....I'm running on Credit Card insurance waiting on them to offer XMAs code to get 10% instead of the 6% they have now :/

i noticed that, we need a better skiing underwriter. Any ideas?

I decided to forgo an annual policy and just buy one for the trip. $257 for the four of us. Dearer than an annual policy with skiing, but I figured I'd just play it by ear, and maybe get an annual policy from our next trip without skiing. Most "ski" insurance, including the Virgin Australia comprehensive provided by Allianz with a skier on the front covers the medical side, however, not equipment, rental or otherwise, while in use. While skis are pretty forgiving, I wasn't going to risk the expense. TID it was.

In previous years they have had discount codes throughout the year.

If you heart isn't set on TID there is also TravelInsurance.com.au with QBE policies available for ~30% discount before end November and then a 10% discount after that time.

TravelInsurance.com.au...30% off...whats the code?
Only seen the 10% off and it was more expensive than TID?

I shall post it later on this evening when i track down the email again. I am planning on booking another year of QBE multi-trip insurance for ~AUD160 which is the last time I can book on the under-50 price.

Thanks for posting but Nil excess and still $50-60 more than TID

For you? Married? Going USA? Too old?

For me TID is $300+ for annual policy where as I have been paying between $162-$178 for the past 4 years with QBE. When I turn 50 next year the premium goes up to $220 which is still a lot lower than TID.

And from memory it only costs ~$60 to reduce excess to $0. Which is still a lower than TID.

But I guess we are all going to get different quotes from each insurance company as our needs are different.
