TravelPass with DSC offer (No Longer Offerred)

Thanks to those who have posted their experiences with getting a travel pass. I rang QFF last week to try and get one for a mid-October NZ trip we had booked. After checking eligibility, the super helpful operator said that was no problem and that DSCs was one of my three options.

We had previously planned another NZ trip for the middle of this month, which was of course cancelled by Qantas given current circumstances. That had automatically been made into a voucher, but she said she could convert this to a travel pass, also with DSCs. So that has given us almost $6,000 in the two passes, all with DSCs.

The process was painless. Waited a minute or so on hold, then the travel passes took perhaps 10 minutes out of a longer phone call working out the history behind a couple of other vouchers. I apologised for how much time I was chewing up, but was told the lines were really quiet.

The confirmation emails arrived while we were still talking, and the passes in less than 2 business days. Overall, a pretty good outcome.

Award booking - 4 weeks - testing to see if Points Club members get DSC when paying taxes
Normal booking - last week

Yes, I know it can take a while to post... but the wait is killing me!
@aus_flyer did you ever receive the DSC on your award booking? Certainly considering testing this out soon! Would love to hear if it came through.

Has anybody used their DSC TravelPass and pay the remaining balance with another TravelPass with +10% credit?

Has anyone used one of these lately? How long did DSC take?
Hi.

I used a DSC voucher back in late May this year (I am in Sydney so haven't been able to fly anywhere since due to lockdown 😖).

The 2x SCs did not automatically come through by 12 weeks after the flight, so I had to call QFF and ask for them to manually intervene.
They said that sometimes the system misses doing the SCs and it took another 2-3 weeks for the additional SCs to come through.

Hope this helps.

Are there any further experiences with how long DSC take to post?

I flew a week ago using a DSC travel pass; the standard SC's have posted but not the additional.

On another note, a March flight to NZ was cancelled overnight (it has been zeroed out in all fare bucket for some weeks) and an email arrived giving me a flight credit. I called and directly requested another of these DSC travel passes and was outright knocked back "we don't do them anymore". Full refund on the way.

You may be out of luck with getting a DSC Travel Pass. I tried in late November for a cancelled flight only to be told that it was a limited trial promotion that had finished the week before.

Yes, that appears to be the case for newer requests¹. But I still have a TravelPass from in July when I was able to opt in.

¹ As I was so informed this morning when I asked for one after a flight credit was generated for a cancelled flight overnight.

Is the phone service worse than last year ?
I just called for a refund but the person I had over the phone couldn't make a sentence in English... It was one or two words only...

I have certainly noticed a decline in the call centre service lately.

I called up this morning to make an award booking, and the agent asked me "what's your PNR?". I explained that I wanted to make a new booking, so didn't already have a PNR, and she put me on hold without even asking what flight I wanted to book.

When you say this no longer offered, I assume you are referring to the offer to have DSC applied to future use of the TP value? Has this recently been confirmed to be cancelled and no longer offered at all by Qantas, ie any recent ones in 2022 are just a normal Qantas Pass, without DSC? @serfty

Obviously I can see that Qantas Travel Pass is still a thing, although now known as Qantas Pass (as previously indicated back in the thread)

Anyone have any idea if a Qantas Travel Pass / Qantas Pass is transferrable to another person, and more specifically if the DSC component would be (ie is it tied to a QFF #?)

If it is in fact over, I am sure there are some people out there sitting on their Travel Passes that may be wanting to move them on for the right price..(assume that isn't something we can facilitate on here anyway, but just an idea, need to do a status run to get Platinum retain, would be great to bolt on DSC onto that) ;)

Correct, specifically Double SC. Without that option "available" I chose for a full refund instead(which was received about 6 weeks later).

I have seen nothing to indicate you cannot still get a "Vanilla" Travel/Qantas pass for a cancelled flight - but why would you when an (eventual) full refund would be available.

This was the wording in my email:

You’ve chosen to earn double Status Credits on eligible flights* for all passengers booked when using your Qantas TravelPass. This offer is available on an unlimited number of eligible flights provided:
A new eligible flight booking is made before the expiry date shown on the Qantas TravelPass,
Booked passengers travel on any Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number*,
Your Qantas TravelPass is used as the payment method for the majority of the booking, or the total remaining value of your Qantas TravelPass is used towards the booking, and
All passengers have their Qantas Frequent Flyer number included in the booking.

@serfty - My thoughts were:
Step 1: Book refundable (aka Flex) flight
Step 2: Cancel flight & Opt for Travel Pass with DSC offer
Step 3: Book actual flight you wanted (ie: status run) - apply the Travel Pass to it
Step 4: Get DSC, without needing to wait for a DSC offer ;)

Of course, this is all redundant now since it has been discontinued! 😭

Step 2: Cancel flight & Opt for Travel Pass with DSC offer
As far as I could see, the pass option was supposed to be only available for when affected by a major schedule change such as cancellation or significant time change. (Some have reported otherwise but I suspect there was a mistake on the part of the agent.)

To be clear, I was referring to situations where Qantas cancelled my flights, not me making changes (NZ bookings FWIW).

Hi,

I have a couple of DSC TPs available. I recently used one of them to book economy flex travel to BKK in a couple of months. Total flight value was about 2k, the TP value was about $150 so I used it in full and paid for the balance using my CC. I would now like to upgrade the ticket to business using points.

- Would this upgrade impact my eligibility for DSC?
- Would the fact that I have another TP impact my eligibility for DSC?

My understanding is that none of these should affect me because I used the remaining balance on the TP to pay for the flight. It should not care that I have another TP outstanding, or that I added value to the flight using points.

Opinions (hopefully supporting my assumptions) will be appreciated.

- Would this upgrade impact my eligibility for DSC?

No, it doesn't affect eligibility. However, you will only receive DSC for the class you booked - not the class you upgraded to.

- Would the fact that I have another TP impact my eligibility for DSC?

No, each booking is its own thing. You can still receive DSC on the other TP.
