I've been slack and only did this tonight. Should have done when I had an Aegean flight in August, but it says I can retro claim it. Will wait hopefully for the match to come through first.

Persevere! I got my welcome kit today. It took me a few emails as well: pdf statement/QFF card/driver's license. Just keep replying to the emails you recieve - don't start a new one, that way the history of what they have asked you for is retained.

About 3 weeks after they got the last of the info they needed. I had to keep waiting till I was at work to scan driver's license and QFF card - statement was not enough. Although others have been matched with less info. I guess the person I got was being a bit officious.

I must have been one of the lucky ones I guess, match done in a day with just a scan of my card and the front screen of the my account QFF site and the welcome pack arrived soon after

Well less than 48 hours after sending in the email along with all the documentation from both Velocity Gold and also Skyteam Elite Plus and I was knocked back!!!

Exact wording as follows

Dear Mella
Please be informed that only Star Alliance Gold and Oneworld Emerald members have an opportunity for Status Match.

Therefore we are sorry that we are unable to meet your demand positively.

Well less than 48 hours after sending in the email along with all the documentation from both Velocity Gold and also Skyteam Elite Plus and I was knocked back!!!

The substantial evidence here suggests that Virgin Velocity had no chance of being matched. Surprised that they didn't consider Skyteam, though (especially if it was the biggest one, Air France-KLM).

That said, I can't remember what the original posting of this deal said the restrictions were.

The original offer made no mention of what they were matching to. Only through trial and error have we worked out that they're only matching to star gold and one world emerald. It does seem odd they're not matching to skyteam as surely that would be more lucrative in Europe than one world would be.

Nope nothing, didn't even give them a copy of my statement. In my email I just told them I do 3 return trips to Europe a year.

Correct - Velocity will not be matched.

And it seems only *A and oneworld.

Both myself & my SO did this recently. No Europe travel on QF statement - just QF & AA.

We both scanned a copy of our QF ff statement plus a scanned copy of our QF WP cards & TK responded to the email within 48 hours with our kits arriving in the mail about 2 weeks later.

One good thing about having *A Gold is:

a) not having to pay for checked baggage on our UA flight LAS/LAX
b) being able to use the UA Lounge in LAS as no Admirals Club
c) Not having to pay the USD27.00 guest fee if using Priority Pass at this lounge
