I received the exact same reply today. (applied 18 June 2013)

I tried with my CX Gold (OW Sapphire)

i tried Virgin Atlantic Gold

Not sure where it was posted in this thread somewhere, but I think most experience suggests they will only match top tier of the three major alliances.

Many have tried Virgin Australia Velocity Platinum with no luck. I think someone may have tried Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold before, also no luck. Not sure if people tried Etihad Guest or Emirates Skywards.

Indeed it does have to be top tier, at least for OW match.

yeah was worth a try :D

thankfully i ended up with a win via united corporate status match... theyve bumped me up to *a gold which will be nice for my air canada flights

I received one pack last week and today another one arrived.

Was hoping the second will be Platinum :)

Same day success for me, although no response to email; I use award wallet and popped up that I had moved up to Gold. Used my flying Blue card and mileage statement, both attached as pdfs.

though they can't have liked me that much. tried to log into my account and my pin number wouldn't work, then my secret password wouldn't work to reset it either!

Get used to it. I think their IT dept are all clubbers...

Applied for status match from A3 gold. My Miles & Smiles account was upgraded to Elite about 3 wks later.
Will fly with them long haul.

I applied for a match to my NZ *G in June but haven't received any response. Should I try again? Keep waiting?

Thanks - Ive just sent off the request again. Their website is unbelievably buggy - hopefully they get this one!
Really.....;)
Turkish make much of being voted Europes best airline. They don't mention having Europe worst website. It's been the same for so long now, they are obviously not even embarrassed by it. :-|
