Turkish Airlines Status Match

Really.....;)
Turkish make much of being voted Europes best airline. They don't mention having Europe worst website. It's been the same for so long now, they are obviously not even embarrassed by it. :-|

I agree. I'm forever getting error messages.

Thank you for the information in this thread. Having rarely flown Star Alliance in the past, I joined up myself and my partner anyway, and were instantly matched to gold. It has come in very handy on 7 Aegean flights this month (there were no OneWorld options anyway). Extra baggage allowance (that we needed) and lounge access (and we had a few long layovers at LHR and ATH). And on most flights we were allocated seating right behind business class, with the business class legroom.
Points credited to Turkish very fast and efficiently, with a follow up email each time. Not sure if the points are worth much, and will probably never use them, but the benefits were great.

I had much difficulty in joining the frequent flyer club. About three attempts by email her I Oz and at least once in Izmir. Another beef was that I left behind a treasured cap in a flight to Vienna but gave up retrieving it after several lengthy phone calls to their offices in Europe.:(

That's a shame. Their website and CS are pretty poor.

Guys is Elite TK's equivalent of QF SG ?
Would they also match to this even if you're QF WP ?

Also does TK Elite give you lounge access at IST and KUL ?
Just want to be sure, I thought J lounge access was a given for the second-highest tier but EY gave me a bit of an eye-opener !

Cheers.

Elite TK is star alliance gold, so you get access to lounges all over the world, including IST and KUL.

Especially IST. Great lounge, but you need to allow some time just to explore it all before settling in to a comfy chair. ;)
Agreed, pretty amazing lounge.
If you have more than 5 hrs between flights you can ask to use one of the 5 private day rooms. The bed is comfy but you will need to be pretty zonked out to sleep as noise from closing shower room doors opposite breaks your rest. Great to get horizontal and close your eyes though.

Really ? Private day rooms in a J lounge ?
I wonder how many more J lounges globally offer that ? I can't imagine they'd be many more ?

We have a four hour transit on the way up (to GRU) but a purposely planned 17 hour on the way home to explore the city.

No Etihad guest website states clearly that if you hold a gold, you plus your travel companion, can access the business lounge.

Well aware of that but just highlighting the fact that according to some members here, that isn't the case in practice.

Well finally re-applied for this after getting rejected in June due to card expiring shortly. Match came through about 2 weeks after I applied, valid until Nov-15.

A positive story to add on this topic...

SWMBO and I looking at some travel within Europe next year on routes which are far better served by *A. Being keen not to join a queue or miss a pre-flight lounge, I looked into the TK status match (from my QFF WP). I ended up sending the request just this morning, and looking now at my account just a few hours after they have opened shop for the day, and TK Elite level has been matched already! Valid through end Nov 2015. Bring on the Senator Lounge at MUC! :)

Now need to figure out whether it's better to credit to TK for ease of *A benefits when travelling, or continue to credit to SQ as I have been doing. Can I use TK points to upgrade a SQ flight? That's probably all I use SQ points for... How good/bad are TK redemption rates?

Cheers.

OWE only... plus possibly some other top tiers in Skyteam etc. I tried OWS not long after this thing started doing the rounds and TK said "no way".
