And TK matched what exactly? :p
Matched my QF WP to Miles & Smiles Gold (earlier in this thread), but this was posted mainly for the benefit of those who had asked whether anyone had managed to qualify for Elite Plus status.

Oh bugga. Just re-read and noticed it was Elite Plus and not Elite. You're at the top of the treeeeee....we're not worthy. ;) Well done.

So you matched to Elite Plus or you've earned it?

Either way... good job!

Mine came through within 24 hours. But despite flying the next day on TG after the match, I wasn't showing up on TG's computer system as *A Gold yet, so had to talk my way into the lounges. The foot massage at BKK was worth it though!

they wouldn't match my Platinum with VA - said they only match alliance airlines eg one world, star etc

This has been mentioned many times through this thread.

Kind of interesting as I guess this would also preclude, say, EK Platinum (or EK Gold) and so on members.

Isn't this only a J benefit? Otherwise I've been missing out!

You can have any type of massage when flying F. F is the only cabin that will entitle you to the full 1 hour massage.

Yes I'm aware of this having been fortunate enough to experience it. However Isochronous seemed to indicate he received a foot massage due to holding *A as a result of the status match.

SO got status match to EK Gold from QF WP back in January this year which was prior to the QF/EK Alliance being announced.

He even got an op-up Y to J from MXP to DXB & was impressed with his Bulgari amenities pack.

Earlier this year I managed to get NZ to match my (legit earned) VA WP so I would have (NZ) *A SG. Since then I've been trying to months to get a TK status match. I followed the procedure of sending feedback online and sending a photo of my NZ card and their website has been very temperamental (I'm amazed such a rapidly growing global airline has such an awful website!). I tried multiple times through chrome which didn't work, and several times through IE. Either crashed or no response. I finally received an email from them last week asking me to send in my last 2 months statements.

As I have not earnt or credited a single flight to NZ since my status match (I only got it for lounge access in Europe) I fully expected them to deny the match when they saw I was asking for a matched status to be matched (essentially 'churning' status matches). I sent in the statements anyway showing a whole lot of no activity.

Was very surprised and extremely pleased to receive an email the following day advising my match has been succesfull and I was TK *A SG until December 2015. Checked my account and sure enough it had been upgraded. I believe the request for statements was purely to verify I had the NZ status, not whether or not I had properly earnt it.

My advice would be if you really want it, perservere.

Now to find a OW status match - is AB my best bet? Although I probably won't use it, are there any easy ST matches I could go for?

AB is your best bet, but it is for 4 (usually rounded to 5) months only unless you fly '17.000 status miles or fly at least 20 times within this period' (according to my match email).
Have not looked into the finer points of this, but I assume discount Y fares are less than 100% status mileage so quite difficult to maintain. I used it for lounge access on a recent RTW economy award, had a spare seat blocked next to me on an AB transatlantic flight and op-up to Y+ on CX from MEL-HKG.

Thanks - I thought AB might be the case. I will not be flying any OW airlines in the next 3 - 6 months (I'm a *A boy) so it would probably be wasted getting AB matched now (although it could be reason enough to finally pull the trigger on a .br SIN trip!). I will never fly enough rev legs or miles to maintain so only looking to get an initial match.

Do you think AB will continue to offer this 4 month match/challenge for a while? Could I wait 6 months before doing it? I was also thinking I could try getting a US match which should then carry over to OW once they join (Ive been an active US member thanks to USDM).

I also thought I saw something somewhere where someone matched an elite Hotel status to an airline status - surely that isn't possible?!

I'm actually surprised that TK matched another Star Alliance Gold (I'm sure at one point they were not doing this unless you were a member of the then-going-defunct bmi Diamond Club).

Let alone one with absolutely no activity on the account statement (I have to confess that my application was not quite "clean"....)

Not sure if anyone has already posted these but the following numbers can be helpful:
Seat Selection (Business and Miles & Smiles Elite) - call 02 9255 9900 and select option 3.
Miles & Smiles Award Bookings - call 1800 750 849 (connects you to Turkey at no charge).

Hard to say when the airberlin offer will end, I don't think it is a public offer with a sign up page, it is all done via email.

I think the only way to match a hotel status to an airline status is indirectly; SPG and Delta have something called 'Crossover rewards' where Delta recognises SPG elites and vice versa. United has something similar with Marriot, but nothing for OW.

Yes you get a card in the mail.

How long has the card taken to arrive for others that received the status match? I got the email confirmation on 27th Nov but haven't received a card in the mail yet.
