UK election 2019

Though I liked one ITV interview of a senior Labor pollie who suggested that there would have to be a long investigation into who switched votes and why.The Interviewer replied I can tell you right now.You lost to everyone, everywhere.

As to the SNP it would be disaster for the Labor Party if Scotland left the UK as they basically vote with Labor.

Looks like the Tories have bolted in, with a Brexit platform and Labor led by Corbyn.

Another conservative leader mocked and belittled by the media luvvie elites gets decisively chosen by the people.

And it looks like the polls, which were predicting a very tight result one and two days out, were wrong again.
The polls are irrelevant these days.

Only 3 seats to be declared which look like Tory seats. They have 362 confirmed seats to Labor 202.
Votes-Tory-43.55%. Labor-32.17%.

What the Tories did well once again, was use social media (Facebook) to a stronger advantage than labor.

Labor voters are younger and have left Facebook for instagram wechat and Snapchat ....

That said, Labor leavers didn’t switch to the Cons in any great numbers but the red wall was defeated because Brexit split off sufficient Labor leavers to bring them, down below the Cons. Corbyn didn’t offer these people anything worthwhile and in fact scorned these voters by offering them the misery of a second referendum (so you vote as we see fit)

This Marxist Lenist model of “we know what’s best for you” and too many similar policies to Shoorten (imagine as a landlord being t9ld if your tenant stays long enough they are permitted to buy it out from under you), the ludicrous amount of endlessspending of other people’s money (those who receive the taxes aren’t exactly the same mob who pay ‘em) is a bridge too far. (I did like the idea that companies must have an employee share scheme as that’s how true wealth capital is created)

Scott from MRketing knows three word slogans work like Get Brexit Done, Get Berexit done, stop the. Boats....

Labor pour scorn on this approach when for uninformed voters it works.

Loyal labour voters were taken for granted in the rush to help “new chums” we call em jjohnny come latelys. Sounds like my bank, punished for loyalty and rewarded for opening a new account (either lower interest rate or over 100,000 FF points).

Lastly, the working class no longer are represented becasue the facade of labor is exactly that, supporting social causes and fads. And professionally educated in preference to The impoverished job insecure working class who no longer need complete job security as their wives are now allowed to work, but still expect their govt to provide health services if you’re heaalthy and wealthy, getting ill shouldn’t make you poor.

That said, it’s ingenious of the Cons who pushed austerity to now resume funding of the stripped down health services. And be rewarded for it. By leaving the EU they will have roughly a. Spare £38 billion to pour into the NHS instead of a poor Eastern European. Country .... in all democratic countries taxes are insufficient to pay for everything everyone wants. If I tried that stunt in my household I’d. Be bankrupt.

PS MY OWN Brexit happened today as my last ever child support payment was made. I can now deal with my. Resentment of me working 5 days a week to blow over 90% of my income on taxes, home loan repayments (15 years down the track, property is far more expensive than on marriage day), child support, superannuation, rates, strata fees and utilities, plus of course feeding the kids.

This is the injustice of the system and is why the average Aussie is more incl8ned to support a wealth creating party even if billionaires are rotting the tax system, than one who passes out plenty of their taxes as “other people’s money”

I wonder if the Scots will have a referendum to leave the UK when the final terms for Brexit are announced? And will Ireland have a hard border seperating the south and the north?

There is every possibility that Boris will lead the UK to oblivion and end up being PM of England, Wales and some minor entities.

Not a chance that will happen. As others have posted the EU has already used a bargepole to push Nicola / Scotland away due to concerns other EU members have about secessions, It's just not Spain that has this issue.

The Scots* can complain all they want, but it's going to add to naught.

The exit poll was pretty accurate.
Yes but that was only today’s poll. The ones I was referring too were the ones of the last couple of days trying to drum up that the election was going to the wire. Wrong on all counts.

Most polls / news reports I saw indicated Boris would romp it in.

The polls couldn't predict where the votes went, and most people thought the Brexit party would split the vote against the Conservative party .... it went the other way

Just waiting for one final seat - the one where my family hails from, St Ives (which includes the Lizard). Cornwall is mostly Blue on the map. 364 seats, maybe 365, is very close the the Exit Poll - so at least that poll works (where it didn't in the Oz election).

Not in the last couple of days in the news.com.au website where they commented that Voting patterns had suddenly shifted. I didn’t believe that but it was what they were sprouting. I also thought that the Brexit party had agreed not to have candidates where conservatives were sitting so as not to split the vote.

I only take notice of polls from the country having the election. Like to avoid local uninformed commentary.

Correct. The split was meant to happen in the seats where they contested I.E. Labor seats. It worked according to Farage..

Approaching that disastrous "deplorables" line .... thinking like this doesn't work in most countries.

No, I was heading in the direction of the unengagrd who do their community duty and vote but don’t follow the day-to-day bubble debates because they don’t have time nor interest to read up on this stuff

As I posted earlier, the polls were reasonably accurate.

Incorrect - you must have missed my post yesterday afternoon:
No - the media were promoting it as being close, but in reality the margin between the Conservatives and Labor was never close over the last month - look here:

I’m reporting what I saw on the news websites I read in the couple of days earlier. There’s no point in discussing it further. I read it and others didn’t. Doesn’t make me wrong.

The new “marketing” name of the conservative party is interesting. I wonder if Pauline took out copyright:)
