UK election 2019

According to one Unsuccessful Tory if the Brexit party had not run at all the Tories may have won another 34 seats from Labor.
Nope, this analysis is biased, he says so himself.

Because Labor had a bigger buffer than everywhere else, his lady opponent survived. In Seats of smaller buffers, the vote splitting by Lab voters to the Brexit party delivered the “red wall” seats to the Cons. (Sure, some small swings to Cons)

In 2015 in this seat, the Con received 18%, in 2017, 29% when the UKIP vote collapsed and returned to the Cons. In 2019, he started 30% behind the Lab MP and that kind of swing was never likely. A ‘delusional’ loser?

At the very least a sore loser. The Tories knew from before the start that Brexit Party could split the Con vote and should have put mitigating measures in place. Hindsight is 20/20.
At worst he is a self entitled loser who thinks that some should not nominate themselves for Parliament especially when he is also a candidate.

So you feel the UKIP vote would have gone back to Labor. If UKIP hadn't stood it is very likely these people would still have voted as they had a fire in the belly.hard to see many going back to Labor.
The fellow you report on lost by 3115 votes to a Labor Remainer and UKIP got 6165 so the Labor candidate would have had to rely on slightly more than 25% of UKIP voters going back to Labor. That I believe would have been unlikely.

However a very generous speech by Theresa May.
Jeez it's been such a shemozzle. Not even vaguely amusing any more even for we Aussies. you couldn't imagine this rubbish going on if the Iron Lady was still in power! She'd have caned the lot of them and sent them to bed with no supper. I'm heading to the UK in a couple of months and will be very interested to see what all my cousins have to say. The one who emigrated to France 10 years ago tells me he's awfully pleased he did!

We visited our relatives in August (Manchester area), and they were hanging out for an election so that they could send the message that they wanted Brexit done. One of them works in a Hospital (lab worker) and is from a classic working class family, one has a PHD in mathematics and his background pretty much middle class (although he claims a link to Princess Anne's first husband), one has worked all his life in factories until they were off-shored to cheaper labour forces elsewhere in the EU. All said they had been betrayed by Labour and the Lib Dems after the referendum. Have already had them cheering via email over the last week.
