I would be on the phone and arranging alternate flights now, the only reason I would say they are not canceling the flights tomorrow yet is because they are busy solving today's problems!

I'll risk it. Considering I'm departing BNE at 8am for SYD, if worse comes to worse I will sit in the SYD QF Lounge whilst J* organise to get me on an alternate flight back to BNE (assuming the alternate SYD-MEL flight is full by then).

The VAAC update was just out so I suggest it was too late to cancel, the big question is what happens when its in Melbourne, two empty flights to Sydney over two days or just stay on the ground where the parking charges are cheaper and wait ?

Although, I would think that they would fly the SYD->MEL sector, and maybe go back to SYD empty. Depedning on the number of passengers doing SYD->MEL

Also consider if you are the average punter booking the flight. you have no idea when booking it travels on to DPS. so as far as I am concerned it is SYD-MEL and should be unaffected! :shock:

As long as they cancel the flight after I am in the F lounge I don't mind! :mrgreen:

Yes, I think I will just turn up for my CNS-SYD in the morning, and worry about it whilst relaxing in the SYD J lounge with Drewbles et al.

No point wandering to T1 too early..... If it's a go - then we get to the F lounge. If no go - I'd rather stay in T3 and let them re-route me to MEL, or refund me and see if DJ has anything....

If it cancels then I imagine JQ check-in at T1 is the last place we want to be!

Edit: EF has JQ35 at J4 Y0.

There's plenty of QF availability to get us to MEL later in the day.

It's times like these that it's good to have status.

I'm so glad that as a WP I'll be at the top of the standby list for the stranded JQ35 pax..... On hang on..... Dammit!!


On a lighter note.... I'd hate to be a non-status customer trying to get to Melbourne tomorrow

It was indeed the MEL F lounge the SYD DJ lounge and I even tried the QF T2 lounge.

With regard to the comments about domestic on these flights there were a huge number of domestic pax on JQ30 from MEL-SYD today.
