And for the first time, for a bit of a joke and to see if it can be done, I'm going to try getting there by train from Parliament Station to Broadmeadows Station then 901 bus to MEL T4 (bus runs every 30 mins). And return. A $3 weekend metlink ticket covers all trips and it should only take 20mins longer (for me) than if I used a tram and the skybus.

This worked really well! A round trip for $3 instead of $30. But it takes 20mins longer each way and the bus stops more-or-less on the other side of the Tiger T4 check-in. And might be a problem with luggage.

Thanks all for giving me a taste of the F life and good to put names to faces.

I misjudged the time it would take to clear immigration so didnt make the J lounge before having to turn around to SYD.

i went to the dj terminal to check in for my flight back to syd dj877... boarding in 10 minutes after check in, so couldnt make the qf j lounge . should have gone for the dj status match and visit The Lounge...

After clearing immigration and nearly asking for a nude photo with Nick Riewoldt (who arrived back from Queenstown at the same time) we made our way to The Lounge to collect boarding passes.

We were offered an 18:00 departure but decided to keep the 21:00 (after a cancellation) and declined so they thought we were crazy. Played a **** game of pool so headed to the QF J lounge, where I'm sat now wondering what to drink.

(and no, not successful, although munitalP mentioned he's had success before).
