Tempted to attend, flights are cheap, but are there enough WP’s to guest?

If someone wants to pay for a MEL-SYD (and the SYD-MEL flight) I'm happy to offer them my guest privileges ;)

I may attend, but I need to see this year out. Too many nights away from my own bed atm (The MEL J lounge is becoming a second home...)

Flights are booked :)

Jan 29 BNE-SYD on DJ924 The 8:00am departure - Unfortunately cheap seats are all gone on the 9am flight
Jan 29 SYD-MEL on JQ35 for the F Lounge
Jan 29 MEL-BNE on DJ353 the 8:00pm departure(time for a few more drinks :))

I’m following this exact schedule. Booked, paid for, will see you all there :)

Good stuff, I've had a read of the ANZAC day thread, and I am looking forward to joining you in trying out the complete selection of reds in the F Lounges :)

I’m very much looking forward to a sampling again, though I’ll have to be conservative if I drive (and there wont be any AirTrain’s running at 2110 when I get back to BNE, so this is going to need some careful planning.

If not enough Platinums for guests there is another way.

What time is the JQ35 flight? I'll talk to you at drinks tomorrow....

From the looks of things there will be, and I’ve already been offered a spot anyway so it’s good :)

Now I’m just waiting

The HI looks like it was built when the Sopwith Camel first took to the skies.

The Hilton tried to rip me off one night. Not much choice there.

Considering its tennis time there is not much choice, dont forget the mantra down the road which is a looong stumble.

The HI is old on the outside but has been renovated, at 15000 points or $90USD its not bad.

Another Plat to the list....booked.

Jan 29 BNE-SYD
Jan 29 SYD-MEL on JQ35

Waiting a few days on MEL-BNE...QF sale is rather cheap and attractive but hmm

Ok, so I'm booking the BNE-SYD leg (still not sure about the MEL-BNE leg) and will book it @ 8am.

I know this is about how to give it to QF, but when the price difference between DJ (No luggage) and QF (with luggage and "something perhaps edible" onboard) is a whole 70c less, with only 15 mins different on the flight - it does increase my realisation that DJ needs a whole lot more work on improving their perception in the market.

(PS - in-case anyone is wondering, the 70c difference is only shown on certain travel agent sites (eg Zuji). The airline websites don't show that difference and are the same price ($79). However, the benefit of booking through Zuji is no CC surcharge and Amex acceptance. I know there are issues if I choose to change the flight, but for a $79 flight, I would throw it away rather than change it. A $50 DJ change fee would apply if booked direct with DJ... and I assume with Zuji fares, it would be around $70 at least to change the flight).

Sometimes agent websites do come in handy. Again, something DJ needs to learn.

[and yes, I'm now booked on the 8am flight BNE-SYD]

Seems like we will have quiet a crowd but whether we can beat 20 we had on QF175 for pre AGM in. 2008.

Great tip, Mal! After lots of to and fro, and as the sale ends today, I have decided to stay the Sat night in Mel at the Airport Holiday Inn (Sat night stay needed for "Crack the Case" promo). Going back to Syd on Sun at 12 noon on QF430:oops::oops: as DJ have no cheap fares around this time. So who's still around on Sat night?? Markis10 for one, I think...

I have booked my flight back on Saturday, but am seriously thinking of bumping that flight, staying Saturday night and enjoying the rest of the weekend in MEL. If I do, I'll stay in the city though (instead of at the airport).

My life is just full of difficult decisions :)

Yes, I am at the HI for similar reasons, gave the IC in town a miss despite the free minibar as the tennis has affected the prices.

- QF704 CBR-SYD, dep 0955, arr 1050
- QF822 MEL-CBR, dep 1900, arr 2005

I won't be on the first flight anymore. I've decided to go to the 'Train' concert in Sydney on Friday night so I'll be flying there on Friday afternoon instead.

Saturday still undecided.

I've also booked a night at the HI Airport... Still haven't decided what I'm going to do (stay in MEL or head back to BNE that night), but I've locked it in as an option. Still plenty of time till the event, so not too concerned about rushing into deciding.

Damn you people and your good times!

I'm in:
28/1 PER-SYD QF568 (arriving 6.15am 29/1)
29/1 SYD-MEL JQ35
I'm undecided on when I'll return to PER.
