Ok, with the current Virgin Blue sale on ($79 MEL-BNE), I've finalised my bookings:

BNE-SYD DJ924 Sat 29 Jan @ 08:00
SYD-MEL JQ35 Sat 29 Jan @ 15:15

Overnighting @ Holiday Inn MEL Airport.

MEL-BNE DJ347 Sun 30 Jan @ 18:00

Plenty of time to check out various Qantas lounges over the weekend ;)

Put me down for this pi$$ up, I will fly to Sydney on Friday 28 on JQ, Flounge visit, then Saturday return on JQ35

Technically not anytime, but it isn't QF, and I don't care.

I'm looking forward to catching up with a few faces I haven't seen in a while.

The Q for checkin for JQ35 on Sat 29/1 at T -3hrs is going to look quite interesting....I wonder how many AFFers will be in front of me in the Q:shock:

At at-least 14 I think we’ll easily take it, though there’s plenty of time for plans to change. I do think we may have a problem all eating at the same time ;) We really will be putting the kitchen to the test!

I may be hoping for too much here but, if we promise to leave our placards and megaphones at home, I wonder if Red Roo might arrange for someone from QF (possibly even him/herself) to join us all for lunch.

That’d be really good actually, sort of like a semi-Do. After all, most of the members going are Platinum, so if they could take time out to meet them (us), I’m sure people would be happy.

let me understand - you want QANTAS to send a rep and acknowledge the little protest that is being run? I'd be less surprised if you show up at the lobby only to be advised the lounge is closed for "operational reasons"....

Still planning on joining at MEL

Especially considering that I don't plan on eating for a couple of days before hand so that I can have at least 2 meals in each of the SYD and MEL F-Lounges :)

I've only been in the F-lounge once, can we book ahead (for the tables, and the spa :) ?)

So you are travelling to Sydney on Friday?

Am I the only one worried that the next 'enhancement' will be to remove access to the F lounge for JQ passengers?

....lounge may not be closed, but there is certainly some precedent to denying access.

My concern is the guesting policy may be declined - if I was Qantas, I would do this... We are publicly telling Qantas we intend to wreak havoc on the F lounge as well as some other lounges - if any of us owned these lounges, what would you do? Personally deny access to all guests unless proven as a partner.

Anyway, time will tell - I can guest 1 on Friday into MEL F and 1 on Sat into SYD F

I would be ready for rejection if you are not a WP

Nope BNE->SYD->MEL->BNE all on Saturday. Lunch in SYD F-Lounge and Dinner in MEL F-Lounge.

MEL-BNE is not available as an Intl flight, so I suspect your dinner plans may change. I am probably going to miss JQ35 as I am not a big fan of queues and DJ is available for the same price with a lot less hassle IMHO.

My understanding was that as I am arriving in the international terminal on JQ35, that I'd be able to access the Melbourne F-Lounge, before heading over to the domestic terminal for my flight home?

Not at all.

For a start you may find it difficult to get back up through to the departures level without a BP for a flight departing from MEL T2.

Secondly, access to the First Lounge will probably denied if you get that far.

Oh well, bad assumption on my part. Will just have to live it up extra large in SYD F-Lounge and then slum it in the business lounge at MEL domestic :)
