Personally I couldn’t be bothered paying extra.

I'm doing this on the cheap :) Figured I could select a seat during OLCI, except apparently can't use OLCI as it depart from the INT terminal. Oh well, I shall leave it to the seating gods.

I recall earlier this year, on the Anzac Do, the checkin staff were able to allocate people together if they checked-in together. I was sat with Bundy Bear in the middle section, not amazing, but I didn’t think to ask for better seats, I know anat0l was much closer to the front but not sure if he paid extra to pre-allocate.

Seats weren’t bad for the short flight anyway, and they served San Pellegrino on board. ;)

It's only a short flight :)

 Careful, people like you (and some of my salubrious guests too ) will cause them to put a great big classy bolt on them fridges. :p

Not something a premium airline would do, surely?!?!

Or even only offer self-serve items that require a bottle opener. Again, classy... premium... enjoy! ;)

What's the capacity of the SYD F Lounge anyway?

Unless the F Lounge is at near capacity, I can't see how they could deny guesting priviliges to the 3-5 non-WP pax travelling with the 10 or so WPs.

Wow… I wonder how they’d fit 220 in there. I’m not sure an F lounge is such if everyone is standing :p

I'm not sure.

Maybe if I get bored during my 6 hours there on Friday I'll go count the seats :D

Plenty available at present!!!!

They have lifted their game considerably, obviously Borgetti at DJ is being taken seriously.

I am skipping SYD on the Sat, going BNE direct Mel , returning via HBA, SYD and CBR on the Sunday ;), just cannot convince myself to fly JQ.

I have decided to go straight back to SYD after JQ35. I am booked on DJ 877 dep. at 615pm.

My concern is the guesting policy may be declined - if I was Qantas, I would do this... We are publicly telling Qantas we intend to wreak havoc on the F lounge as well as some other lounges - if any of us owned these lounges, what would you do? Personally deny access to all guests unless proven as a partner.
It would be a difficult for QF to deny lounge access because your guest is not your partner. I do not believe this is written anywhere in the terms and conditions.

Sam, experience has seen guesting entitlements withdrawn without notice as QF are entitled to do at times, this is what is being discussed, a la a past Ozfest.
Then QF will need to deny access to everyone flying JQ that day just in case they are AFF'ers. That will not be a wise thing to do.

But's that is almost exactly what the QC Manager invoked at ozfest IV. Any Platinum member there using anytime access was advised to vacate the premises. There were some non-FT'ers who were very unhappy with the process.

Typical... a few (a lot? :D) spoiling it for everyone that day! ;)

Sure but in this instance QF Platinums are actually flying on the day on an eligible flight and are entitled to use the First Lounge.

That goes without saying. ;)

An interesting experience for me at BNE airport yesterday. As I was walking towards the lounge I saw a couple of blokes in front of me and one had the old Bronze tags on his back pack telling his friend to hurry up as he was guesting him into the lounge.

I said to the bloke with the bronze tags "Are you interested in going into the business lounge?". He said "No, we are right" getting his boarding pass out of his pocket. I said "Are you sure?" keeping in mind the bronze tags and he said "Yes". Anyway he goes to the desk and shows his boarding pass and they both turn left. I showed my boarding pass and turned right into the business lounge.

I guess the Qantas Lounge is better than the Business Lounge.
