I want to see them argue that Sam isn't my partner
Hahaha
I want to see them argue that Sam isn't my partner
Slightly different case secenario as the Plats that day were not actually flying (in fact, they were all incorrectly denied access IMHO as I was there that day)....this time the Plats are flying...and you need to be flying to get past immigration.....lounge may not be closed, but there is certainly some precedent to denying access.
Why would QF deny access? I'm not planning to wreak havoc in the lounge, and certainly did not refer to it as a "pi$$ up". As long as your guest is travelling with you, your guest has a valid reason to enter the lounge; no where in the rules does it say the guest has to be related to you. I guess if you were "wreaking havoc" in the lounge, then QF are quite within their rights to ask you to leave. My concern is the guesting policy may be declined - if I was Qantas, I would do this... We are publicly telling Qantas we intend to wreak havoc on the F lounge as well as some other lounges - if any of us owned these lounges, what would you do? Personally deny access to all guests unless proven as a partner.
Unless the access rules change between now and then, I can't see this happenning. Based on a quick count, I can't count more than 2 or 3 guests who are not Plat. Everyone else is a Platinum and travelling that day.I would be ready for rejection if you are not a WP

Can't remember exactly the no. of FTers that day, but a figure of 30-40 comes to mind:mrgreen:...so I guess the lounge manager of the day invoked that rule...quite inappropriate as it was a Saturday early afternoon when the lounge was almost deserted. The comment was about the precedent of using the access rules (capacity controls, orderly operation etc etc_ to prevent access, not about whether the scenario was the same.

Start reading from post #1 in this thread and come back and tell me that the undertone is not to be taking of the final any time access to its maximum and making it a pi$$ up.
As I said, if I was Qantas, I would be looking very close at this little mob, then based on "operational constraints" disallow partners - go use the J lounge instead.
Access for Jetstar passengers
Qantas Club members travelling with Jetstar* are welcome in any Qantas Club or QantasLink lounge. Simply show your boarding slip and Qantas Club card, or Platinum or Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer card, at the lounge reception. You may also invite one guest who need not be travelling. If you are travelling without luggage you can check in for your Jetstar* flight in most Qantas Club lounges. When you fly Jetstar,* you won't be able to access partner, associated^ or oneworld airline lounges.
International First Lounge - Platinum
Must be travelling onwards that day on a Qantas, British Airways, Jetstar or oneworld flight number.#
One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member.
¶ From 1 February 2011, to access Qantas Domestic or International lounges, Platinum members must be travelling the same day on a flight that shows Qantas (QF), a Jetstar Airline (Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) or Valuair (VF)) or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket. Other lounge access conditions apply. See Qantas Club Terms and Conditions.
Sam, experience has seen guesting entitlements withdrawn without notice as QF are entitled to do at times, this is what is being discussed, a la a past Ozfest.
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
I know of the incident, in relation to anytime access primarily and a large group of FTers, however anytime access doesn’t cover the JQ-F lounge part of the (for lack of a better word) Do, and hasn’t covered F lounge access for a few years (I can’t recall when serfty said they removed F anytime access).
QF wouldn't dare shoot themselves in the foot with a bazooka by changing policy that day.
Qantas can stop guests at anytime if the lounge manager deems it so, the Ozfest example is of that right, if they feel the lounge is too busy they will change the rules, that's the point!

I would think that entering separately instead of as a large group might be a wise idea on the day.
JQ checkin may well do that for you anyway
Question, has anyone bought StarClass, and to those that just bought the cheapest fare, did you pre-purchase and select seats, or are you at the mercy of the checkin agents?
