Sure, if it will get me my money/points/whatever else I want. ;)

Yes I know - I'll end up sucking up to them and complying to achieve that - doesn't mean I have to like it!

But I'm more interested to see they must be charging everyone the fee - wonder how many miss picking it up and get charged for it

It seems Jetstar have chosen a perfect match for their credit card partner - a "B grade" bank with a "D grade" call centre! - not doing anything to enhance their brand IMHO

No Annual Fee charged here. No issues with callcentre. I've had more issues with the muppets at Woolworths EDR CC. Now they define incompetence.

I agree with medhead, is it really such a big deal to achieve the end game? 30,000 pts and no fee.. just have to confirm your dob, email and what you had for breakfast?

I know it is frustrating having to follow up their mistake but surely you're not that arrogant to suggest they ignore privacy legislation because of your ego?

Please tell me what "legislation" you are referring to? I will be very interested in the specifics of your response

I think it's a myth and people just hide behind privacy....

Who else is going to ring them and want to discuss them incorrectly overcharging me? SeriOusly think about it- what "privacy / personal information" is being provided to the caller in that case?

Its not ego - its commonsense - which it seems a lot of people lack these days

I can't wait to flip them the bird once the 30000 points come through!

In principle, I agree with you in relation to that specific situation. However, companies are required to protect your personal information and I guess we never know what systems are in place to prevent them looking at your account without identifying yourself.

In any case, as mentioned I take a pragmatic approach when I want something from them. On the other hand I have had Telstra marketing people ring me a couple of times and offer to analyse my usage and see if they can do a better deal. My response is "sure have a look see what you can do" (I'm fully aware this may be a scam). Both times their answer has been I need you to ID yourself to analyse the account. To which I ask why and point out that I haven't asked for them to change anything, happy to hear what they can offer and then if I decide to change I'll give them the required information at that time. Basic you rang me, make your offer and I'll decide then. I refuse point blank to ID myself and they refuse to make the offer, end of call.

Privacy law its an interesting read

Thanks for nothing - the link provides nothing relevant to the discussion
if you have something specific that answers my question about what Privacy legislation covers the situation I've described above please feel free to post it

There is national privacy legislation that requires companies to protect your personal information. At the very least this means employees can't access your records at random. For all you know the call center person might have to enter your answers before they can even see your statement to determine you been incorrectly charged.

Google "privacy act Australia" to learn more.

good luck bodog.

Bodog........I am sorry I misunderstood your sentence where you only asked for the "legislation" - I didn't realise you were seeking a consultationto interpret and apply this to your particular circumstances. I am happy to do so however I would need to discuss my hourly rate (need to disclose this before entering into a agreement) - but to make sure I can provide the best assistance to you I would need your name, address and confirmation of your capacity to pay (there is a credit card surcharge). Otherwise you might want to go look up Comlaw its not overly hard - if I remember correctly research was one of the first year subjects.

I didn't - but if you are going to comment then it's helpful it is relevant and focused rather than a generic link. But if that's all you feel competent to contribute then I can understand that. Thanks for your efforts.

Yep this reason alone will see me cancel this card as soon as the final 10k posts.

What a joke of a card, everything about this card is low rent.... or should i say LCC ;)

I'm in 2 minds being charged to have a paper statements annoys me the most. Want me to pay the bill? Send me a statement!

But being able to avoid the card fee is good.

Could not agree more - I will be cancelling as soon as the 30000 points are transferred
if that's the service they offer Platinum cardHolders then I wouldn't want to be a basic cardholder
I'm still trying to get the $149 fee they've charged me credited - several calls to their clearly Phillipines call centre and I'm still not there yet (even after complying with their stupid privacy policy)

I'm sure you'd be the first to complain if something happened to your details/card too.

Shall we keep things in context...
I would have absolutely no issues with ANYONE talking to them about my being overcharged $149 and getting it fixed (I'd take my hat off to them as it seems all a bit too hard to comprehend for their "service" agents) - and I'd be ok with ANYONE arranging a credit on my account.

I would however have issues if they had to disclose any personal information or were asked to make a transaction which debited my card - but that's not what we are talking about...
if that was the case I would feel I could validly compain as my privacy would have been breached

have you also considered that to access your account they need to enter the details? i.e. they just can't call it up? I think it's a stupid stance you make. THey are using it to protect someone else gaining any access to your account. I fail to see what your beef is.

I fail to see what your beef is.

Guess we'll just disagree then. Bottom line is they hold the initial power - but in the long term I'm the winner and can vote with my feet
So I will tolerate my short time with them - shame it didn't turn out to be a longer term relationship

I have several other bank/credit card relationships that don't cause me that amount of angst - I will simply return to patronising them - with 30,000 points in my QFF account

Not sure about you but I have 3 credit cards from different banks/organisations, and for all 3 it doesn't matter what I'm calling for, but if it pertains to my card, my ID is always verified with a few ID questions.

Same for me with 8 credit card products I have
