Well, for the record, my card finally arrived today!

I managed to talk to someone yesterday morning. They asked for my reference number, which I told them I don't have because I have had no contact from them since I hit the apply now button. He managed to find my application and then told me they were needing a pay slip. Off course I have never been asked for this and my credit file was accessed within 24hrs. I guess there is a massive break down in there online automated service going through to the people who are supposed to follow up things like id checks and pays. I then asked how long this would take and was told it takes 2 weeks from when they have all the information they ask for. I suggested rather politely that they have never asked for anything and that it says 10 business days on the website from application. What a mess. I have half a mind to call them up and tell them to forget about it, but then I now have an application for credit on my account so if I go hunting another of the current bonus points offers I will likely get rejected because of it. What a mess!

In a case like this you can request they remove the Consumer Credit Enquiry from your credit file, and don't take no for an answer. They would have to remove it in this case.

I figured that would be the case The Rok. I guess I will give them another week as the bonus points are fairly cheap (so long as they post and they only charge me the discounted Club Jetstar rate, but I guess that's another story).

Update to my application, thankfully painless.

29/6 (Sat) - Applied online
2/7 (Tues) - Paperwork to confirm ID & proof of income
5/7 (Fri) - ID verification via Aust Post & forms submitted
15/7 (Mon) - Received Card

Confirmed with activation team
- enrolled into QFF program not Jetstar dollars
- 15k QFF + 2 QC passes after first spend before Sept 30 2013
- additional 15k QFF after $5k spend before Sept 30 2013
- $69 first year annual fee (confirmed because I was a jetmail subscriber)

Applied mid-July
Approved by letter dated 8th August and asked to do Post Office ID check
Card arrived 4th September
7 weeks all up!

My question (which I'm guessing will be better answered here than by JQ cards!) is, will I still get the 30k and the passes with those time-frames?
I have an inkling that at the time of application it was "be approved by 31 July". Or has it been extended as per other posts?
I note that the current web offer is now 31st August and 31st October for spend.

My progress:

Applied 5/7
Asked for income verfication 12/8
Got a letter in the mail today with a PIN

No communication whatsoever from them apart from the income request and today's letter.

Not happy Jan. I would expect they will extend the offer due to the undue delay or they can keep their card. Typical muppets from Macquarie Bank.

Card arrived today, just over three months after applying for it. Rang the call centre in Mumbai or wherever to activate it. Gave them my QFF number to link the card and hit the first problem: Apparently my QFF Account is in the name of William J Fysh, not William Fysh according to them. They then told me I would have to ring QFF and change my account name to William J Fysh. WTF? My QFF account, Jetstar Platinum Card and Macquarie Platinum card are all in the name William Fysh. So I politely suggest they change their records to align with everything else. After checking with her supervisor, I'm told they can do that once I send them a copy of my passport. Hang on, I say, you have all my details, I am an existing Platinum customer and you have already performed credit checks on me so why do you need my passport to remove my middle initial from my account name?

I thought I had better check that what they have given me accords with the offer I signed up for. I then find out that I am not going to receive the 30k bonus points as they reckon I didn't apply for that offer. I don't think I could be bothered rooting around and trying to locate the screenshot from the application, I think I'll just tell them to keep their card and can my Macquarie card as well.

I am now into week 8 and still nothing since lodging the identity check forms via australia post. And mrs smithy is on week 6 for same outcome. If I don't receive by end of the week I doubt I will bother to activate card as I am not going to be able to do the spend to qualify for the points on offer.

Seems to be a case of screenshot everything in the application process and be prepared to battle the call centre in India for the points.

Maybe they got their business plan from Citibank/Virgin Money?

I also suspect a lot of these cards being issued will be destined for the shredder/scissors?

Finally had enough. Cancelled this card.

Interestingly, the letter I received with the request for the balance payment says "Please make payment for this amount at your earliest convenience". That's rather generous of them with such open ended wording. No date there. 2050 sounds like it could be the earliest convenience for me.

^^^^^^^

Above is a lie. Ok, I'm just an idiot. Didn't cancel this card. Cancelled my Macquarie Platinum.

Called today
The 15 + 15 bonus is still available
Spend date is now 30 October
Activated card and will start spending

Bizarrely I got a call from Card Services and was told that I was actually offered 1st year fee free and a $200 flight voucher - probably worth more than 30,000 points so I'm not complaining.

I guess I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch though - will eagerly await actually receiving the voucher.

I'm on that one also, had to ring again this arvo to get the card activated for the 2nd time.
First time was last Friday, person on the end of the phone said it was activated.
Went to use at Woolies for the first time, declined.
Tried again this arvo before the second activation call, obviously not activated first time around.

Now up and running.

Noticed the 15k points for the initial spend hit my account today.

I had 30k points posted on my QFF account today, a week after activating the JQ card. I spent about $2k during that week, so I can only assume the balance transfer I made from my Qantas Staff CU card must have been counted towards the total. I'll just pay off this one and it can go into the bin with my Mac Plat card.

Just noticed the second 15k QFF points appear today. Still waiting on the two QP passes to arrive though.
