Thanks for your prompt reply and the hint.

I just looked again on the Qantas website at some Sydney based JASA flights with maximum cash co-payments: SYD-PER-SYD (72k) and SYD-MEL-HBA-MEL-SYD (48k) but must not be experienced enough at this game as can't get a JASA return flight down to only 24k points.

According to the Qantas classic points table, 24k points is enough for a one-way business flight between 601-1,200 miles.
(you need 16k for a 0-600 mile business class seat so 2x 16k > 24k)

According to the Qantas status table, 601-1,200 miles in business earns you 60 SC, so I don't see how we can earn 140 SC for 24K + $100 or so.

Confused!

Anyway, I have now found the JASA sticky you mentioned - 381 posts and counting. I will diligently read through them all looking for the answer. Sorry to be so slow.

Not the best example..... but, took me 2 seconds, so it's all I can be bothered finding.

Depart 1st October
Return 2nd October

JASA Darwin-Bris-Townsville-Brisbane-Drawin is 48,000 points and $267.60

Darwin to Bris is about 80 status credits?
Bris to Townsville gets you 60?

80+60+60+80 = 280 status credits....

if you go one way, that is 140 status credits for 24k points and $134...

Keep in mind, you get about 7,820 FF points (as Bronze) as well... so, really, it costs you about 40,000 QFF and $267.60 (plus any accommodation costs, for one night, I suppose).... for 280 status credits.

Thanks but I was looking out of Sydney. Your example is very similar to the one in the first post in the sticky JASA thread - where I am up to re-reading post 200 out of 381. (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....uent-flyer-program/how-do-i-book-j-29610.html)

But very kind of you to take the time to post and quite correct if you are up that way - quite handy to have a route that is charged by a GCM calculation but earns SC based on milers traveled per leg. Handy to be flying away from Darwin to BNE from TVL before heading back up to DWN. (See post #200 in the same sticky JASA thread for the calculations - link above)

Thanks again, really appreciate your response.

Angus

Sydney does not offer good value for JASAs, the closest you will get is CBR to HBA.

So other people have yet to recieve any sort of confirmation of application as well?

I applied last weekend and havent heard anything, not even an email!

Was seriously thinking I had imagined my application?

Just got an SMS, 10 days later, asking or a payslip.......interesting customer service...

Given the promo was circulated to the general public a day after it was posted here, I would imagine the response times would be decreasing as they deal with more applications.

Jeez I have had a bad week - knocked back by Macquarie for JQ Master card - knocked back by HSBC for Qantas Staff Card - even Cruiserette barked at me to get over my side of bed last night - bad week indeed.

Got rejected from JQ, I easily meet the required criteria and already have an Amex Platinum so they probably knew I would hit n run.

Finally got the sms...

When they say it might take 10 days, they really mean it.

Well I'm still waiting - I'm expecting a rejection but they do like to take their time about it.

What would be the minimum acceptable credit limit?
I have the Citi Platinum that will soon halve it's QFF rewards, but prefer to hold this rather than close/churn.

$8000. It's on the site somewhere.

I got rejected by HSBC for a Woollworths credit card mid-last year but successfully applied for an Amex Platinum and also a Citibank Select Visa in December so go figure.

i was approved. card came about a week after i emailed the payslip.
fyi my credit limit is 7.5k

when i activated it, the operator confirmed the no annual fee, the bonus points setup and changed me over to the QFF program. all very easy.

My application was rejected.

Got informed by means of a snail mail. Rather inefficient - thought it'd be easier to email or call.

Oh well...
