Is it possible to depart from a different airport?

e.g PER-BKK-LHR and return on FRA-BKK-PER?

Problem is I need to arrive in LHR, but prefer not to return via LHR, CDG or FRA would be better

sure. you can leave from another airport - it's called an open jaw. No stopovers allowed if you open jaw.

Yes you can...it's called an openjaw. If you do, it means you aren't allowed any en route stopovers in BKK.

Damn I wanted to stop in BKK. SIGH!

But if I do PER-BKK-FRA-LHR, I will be able to stop by BKK on the way back? Not keen on the old F from BKK-LHR.
So many options and so confusing

You can do PER-BKK-FRA-LHR-FRA-BKK-PER; your origin is PER, destination is LHR and stopover is BKK (either direction).

Of course, this means you must fly LHR-FRA. This means you will be up for UK APD (and if LHR-FRA-BKK-PER is all in one flight segment, you'll pay the maximum APD).

you should probably spend a couple of minutes to read the US airlways membership guide. This is available on the Dividend Miles page. It tells you about open jaws and stopovers and all sort of other things :)

Yeh might need to do that. Is that on the webpage where you buy miles from?

Ok... So I just got off the phone with the call center and have the following on hold. SYD - BKK - JNB (J), JNB - CAI - LHR - LAX (J), LAX - SYD (J). Quoted 110,000 miles per person, $465~tax and $50pp booking fee. Seems a bit low, but no questions asked about the round the world booking, but I thought the miles would be 120,000 for J. Should I endeavour to correct this prior to booking? Has anyone had trips cancelled on here that were priced incorrectly?

If they ticket it it's either 110k (USA & Canada rate) or 130k (Africa) - no basis for 120k though.

You are a legend:!:

I'd jump and get it ticketed. Now. Get a confirmation and eticket ASAP, with eticket number, PNR and sector / segment information.

Armed with that, at least it's easier to work with if things get sticky.

I've heard of a handful of cases where people are getting ticketed but paying "less" than they should be. I haven't heard of one that has been "recalled" or what not by US DM. That's not to say it can't happen, but I'm prepared to assume that the occurrence will be rare.

It's even more so, I'd say, if there are not enough residual miles in your account to pay the "difference", in the event they catch on that you were "undercharged".

After reading the member guide - date changes cant be made after the trip has commenced. Has anyone been able to extend their trip??

if the rate desk passes this and allows ticketing then indeed it is a legend of a routing!

how did you get them to make the booking? did you ask for SYD-JNB, then JNB-LAX? did you give them the flights or did they offer them?

Heh, well there were no magic tricks. Just a bit lucky with the agent I think. I just called up, said I wanted to book to JNB, then added on the multi city routing piece by piece and she never questioned me or even asked anything about it being as valid itinerary. The just priced it all up and gave me a reservation code, she was very friendly and helpful. I have a confirmation of the reservation, so assuming it is all good to go, I will confirm the booking tomorrow after buying some extra miles today. As a side note, the two RTW tickets I have booked have been done just giving them each flight piece by piece and they have never asked me any questions about whether it is a valid itinerary or not. Been lucky!

yeah - it's been back for a while :) they quietly snuck it in last week sometime dropping the requirement for it to be targeted. Emails only seem to have gone out now.
