Well thats the end of it then.

Move on and start concentrating on Lifemiles (and dont break the rules of that).

3. The recipient paid me the total of the miles / taxes / fees I had to pay for purchasing the miles.

I'm not sure why mel_traveller your asking me to write a letter when I told you I have sent many emails. The first one got a reply the rest nothing returned. Their reply I posted in my second post a few days ago.

Well there is the problem.. charging for the miles.. I don't think you are going to have any luck getting any points back. Especially now as they have flatly stated they won't reply to your emails.

because writing the letter (or email) correctly is viatal to any chance you might have of getting any of your miles back. However it seems that a number of weeks have passed since you were first aware of the issue, and you have already sent emails to them.

If you had sought advice at the outset then you could have worded the best possible letter or email you could have. You could have phrased your arguments carefully for maximum impact. You might already have done that. If you have done that, then would you be willing to share the contents of the letter. your experience will be important in helping the next person this happens to (although it is very rare, there isn't a lot of data to go on).

Im in travel so can't go into high detail . I did seek some advice from some bloggers on how to construct my correspondence but honestly I could have begged on my hands and knees and got the same result . They took everything didn't matter from who and now I have nothing lost $3,000 and 800,000 points .

Looks like a very steadfast response by US DM. They will not be changing their decision any time soon and appears that litigation is the only way forward. I'd just write off the miles cost from your travel budget and move on.

I think a letter drafted by a legal rep would have gotten you further. Bloggers aren't really a good source of information and letter writing skills.. Unfortunately for you, it's cost you and the family, but at the end of the day you broke the rules.

Are you sure the blogger didn't work for US Airways ;)

I also consulted a solicitor who told me they took a aggressive stance and should work out after my emails . So I have made another appointment on Tuesday obviously with a different fellow .

So mel_traveller are you surprised can you book me a flight .

are they the exact worded emails you received? because TBH it's poorly written and doesn't explain how or why they came to a decision. just saying that they did.

do you mean your travelling at the mo or your working in travel ? I thought you worked in a factory ... Think your probably going to have to suck it up and be happy that you ended up with the quantity of THAI miles that you did. Best of luck !

Wonder if you AND your family are permenantly banned from the program?? Or could they still buy points in the future and use them to redeem for your award flights??? Or would the meer mention of your name in the system have repercussions even if the miles weren't yours??

And yes i have wondered about a wind up of this whole saga as well... But would wonder at the mentality of anyone who could need this much attention and contruct so complicated a scenario over so long??? At least some of it seems to have been semi-humorous in terms of how far things have gone??? Not this last case of losing the miles and all.. If its true??

I have a problem that I can't seem to solve....

my flight to EUR req'd a change of aircraft (using TG) when I log into Thai it shows me now leaving EUR 2 times on the same day from different locations. Called THAI & told them some of those flights were cancelled, they said I had to call US to get them to fix it. Call US and they said all shows good their side nothing they should do. Emailed THAI and told them the response and they said it's incorrect their side and US have to fix it.

How do I deal with this ? US says there's no problem and THAI says & shows that there is

The emails I'm receiving I'm copy and pasting . I do work in a factory and I'm traveling to work . No one from that department can tell me any answers to why they closed the accounts that didn't breach the terms .

As for the truth I didn't believe it at first either . I'm also wondering if I can still use dividend miles . Friends have accounts but I don't want to risk them gifting me a flight and having their accounts closed down . All the accounts I have tried to buy miles for and won't allow it . I can take a screen shot of this web page to confirm any doubts for you when I get him e in 12
hours .

So ahh.. how did US find out award ticket was actually sold?

Its the the only justification they have. They sound like they have convincing evidence they are not willing to share.

Shayne, has your work friend spoken to US airways at all?

Obviously they have found out the truth somehow, and not just taken a random guess based off some circumstancial evidence. I'm sure people buy flights for their friends/family as free gifts all the time, yet we dont hear about them. We have only heard from you where award ticket WAS actually sold.

When i made my first DM booking and was originally coming back from Frankfurt via Kolkata to Bangkok and then later the the LH flight from FRA to CCU or whatever was cancelled and i was able to then book a straight FRA-BKK flight, i think for a while both the old cancelled flights and the new flights appeared on the US airways site i think it was... Certainly on some site i looked at some of the old and new ones both appeared... But I had no problem completing the itinerary...

But I had no problem completing the itinerary...

I concerned that if the problem doesn't rectify on THAI's side that they may come back to me that re confirmed seats with them. The US agent couldn't log into THAI to see the flights.
