US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Last years 100% share bonus was a rare offer that is not likely to be repeated anytime soon (I believe they only do them every 18-24 months).
18 months is about correct I think but they do do 75% bonuses as well most years. Am certainly not so desperate to buy I'll rush into this one!

Just received this on my USDM statement. Don't remember signing up to any promo... wondering if anyone else got it?

Don't complain about something in your favour, they seem to be few and far between!

As per NDiddy's post on the Success Thread, is TG 380 coming to SYD???

Probably our last trip on *A on USDM given the merger so thought we'd tick off something on our bucket list and head off to Egypt and Jordan in Jan 2014. Itin is for 2 people

SYD-BKK TG A380 F
BKK-MXP TG A340 F
MXP-CAI MS B737 J (Destination)
CAI-BKK MS B777-300ER J (Stopover)
BKK-SYD TG A380 F

160K in points and $172USD dollars in taxes + $50USD booking fee per person.

When we put this booking on hold there was only 1 seat in J available on the MXP-CAI leg (So we booked 1 in J and 1 in Y) but when we rang up about an hour later another J seat appeared and they were able to book my wife into J without rebooking the whole itin. Great success!!

Would have loved to come back via the EU to maximise the F experience but time was against us. Still, looking forward to trialling out MS J. We're doing a 2 week tour of Egypt and Jordan and it's something I've always wanted to do from when I lived in the Middle East as a kid.

We've got a trip coming up to the States in July/Aug this year as well so a nice way to get some good value in a short period of time while it lasts.

Happy days :)

There's probably some nasal spray I need to buy for jumping early. The booking shows that the aircraft is a 747 however based on the info available from Thai on their A380 rollout Sydney is scheduled to have 1 A380 scheduled daily on the BKK-SYD route from Sep 2013. They have also said that the flight to get the A380 will be TG475/476 which is the flights we're booked on.

I really should edit that post as excitement last night got the better of me ;)

[that is, he will send you 40K + 20Kbonus and you return the process with 40K + 20k bonus]

Thought I better move this post after replying in the wrong thread - I had drank a few glasses by then!!

Hi guys

The mrs has decided to take redundancy so we are thinking of extending out trip home in July from a
decent 4 weeks to a great 8-10 weeks.

We are currently looking at

Syd - Bkk F
Bkk - Fra F
stopover (flight back to the uk via An Italian holiday)
Fra - Ord F
Destination
Ord - Fra F
Fra - Cdg J
Cdg - Bkk F
Bkk - Syd F

The easier option is to bring our flights forward to Fra but then I'd miss the Ashes!! So I was thinking about moving all
our flights from Fra to Ord back a few weeks.

My question is can I keep my existing flights to Fra or should I just cancel and re book everything?

I did have a look at award flights on united.com but options / availability was pretty poor!

Any suggestions would be welcome

it is possible to change segments of a ticket without cancelling the whole thing. But not all agents can/are willing to do that. You might need to make a couple of calls to find the right agent.

+1 It is possible to change particular segments if you get the right agent who knows what they're doing. Just be very clear that you don't want to change the entire booking.

Well looks like I'm going to eat my own words here...Called US Airways yesterday as I wanted to change 1 segment of our existing itin into 2. Part of our existing itin is:

LAX-ICN-BKK(stopover)-SYD

Wanted to change this to LAX-ICN-HKT(stopover)-BKK-SYD. Lady I spoke to was lovely but when she checked with the ticketing desk they informed her that the entire segment would need to be released and re-booked. Reason given was that the LAX-ICN-BKK was all together and therefore all needed to be rebooked. Didn't argue the point much and just ended up paying for a BKK-HKT-BKK leg (cost slightly less than the change fee but obviously in Y).

Im hoping as its a date change it will be ok. Will keep you posted.
Although I'm a little against changing such a great itinerary eespecially with
current award availability being poor

You and me both - Impossible to find any trans pacific award availbility at the moment for July/August so I just left mine alone. Would be good to hear about your experience though....keep us posted!

Will do - I saw availability to Montreal in J which I would take as I'm keen to visit there and its not too far from
our current destination of Chicago. I will make a decision in a few weeks when I know if I manage to get redundancy.

There isn't a great deal of award availability showing though! Although to be fair when I booked it last year around
September time there were plenty of options
