Alas on 29 Nov this little trick was stopped by USAirways. You now cannot travel to EU via North America or North America via EU.

My interpretation of the new rules is different to yours and I would still think it would be possible. The new changes/restrictions are:

Travel from North America to Europe is not allowed via Asia.

Travel between Europe and Japan/North Asia/South Asia/Australia/New Zealand is not permitted via North America

Based on the above I intepret AUS - (asia) - EUR - NA as valid, given travel is between Australia and North America, and the stopover is EUR. However, this is all moot I suppose until someone is able to get some bookings under their belt.

I'm a first time user and my wife and I have got our 100,000 miles on the 50+50 offer. As I said I'm a first time user and not TOO confident so I'm thinking of buying another 50,000 miles now for normal price. I need 150k for round trip first class Perth to London probably with Thai in March/April 2011.

So I'm thinking that the AU$3000+ is still quite cheap. What's the group view?

Thanks Paul

Ok I've held off hoping for another bonus miles offer but it feels like its not going to happen. I know this is an impossible question but do any of the more experienced members think its worth waiting another week or so? Looks like our departure date in going to 18th March. I guess we could be flexible 1st Thai or Business Singapore

You could try holding off until 1 February. Promos usually started at either the beginning of the month or a couple started half way through the month.

Not sure what the cahnces are though - there is a current targetted promo for some people who bought miles last year. They are being offered 50k miles at a 40% discount or something. That offer expires soon. So maybe there will be a general release after that.

Could one of the targeted people gift me the miles? I'd pay of course

Ok I've bought the last 49,000 miles for $1458. I've got a friend to make the reservation so all I need to do is phone and confirm. I'm so excited I can't find the number to ring in the US. Can anyone point me post which shows the number

Thanks

Ok rang the number but I was told to ring
1800 622 1015 for international
I used skype and the call cost me nothing!!
So charges and taxes were US$275+50 per person and now its done :p:D just got to get seat allocations. I'm smiling thinking that there could be such a thing as a bad seats in First class!!

Perth-Bangkok, Bangkok overnight so we can enjoy First class lounge then on to London
On the way home its London-Zurich-Bangkok-Perth
Perth to Bangkok has to business but the other legs are first.
Not bad for approx $3,500.00
The agent said I would be charged 120,000 miles which is a mistake but saves me 30,000 towards my next adventure.
As it was my first time I've been using Ben at PointsPro. Hope this doesn't break any advertising rules but this is a recommendation. He has been great and I can't reccomend him highly enough.
Thanks to everyone her on AFF too. I started with the posting "The Dream comes True" and it's just happened to me

To be on the safe side I would contact US and get them to charge the additional 30,000 miles. Otherwise you may find your ticket changed to biz class the whole way. (You should also check right now that the TG sectors BKK-Europe vv are in 'O' class anyway.)

That's awesome given you have a premium ex-UK airport departure tax ;)

I'm trying to work out another booking, might need some help but not really pressing right now;

FRA-ICN(LH F)-xBKK(TG F)-SYD(TG F)-xBKK(TG F)-xCDG(TG F)-FRA(LH C). Its basically a FRA-SYD return with a stopover in ICN. Anyone know if this is remotely possible given it's not really that direct.

It should be ok as some agents have trouble placing Asia on a map. The only issue is that OZ fly ICN-SYD direct but this isn't in First so I would argue that the class of service is only available via BKK.

As with most things USAir - get on the phone and have a bash. Make sure you give them the route segment by segment. Asking them to find you something ICN-SYD and you will get OZ only.

I just wish they would hurry up with the next buy, gift or share promo. Need to some trips booked.

Same here, fingers crossed it will be soon. But i think the normal price to buy miles is still good value, with the current AUD-USD exchange rate, very tempting!!!

Ok I'm booked, paid for and I've got my seats allocation BUT my wife is a little concerned that all I can show her is a webpage on the US Airways site showing some vague information.

Am I just supposed to turn up at the airport with my passport and no documentation?

I've used eTickets a lot but the idea of turning up at the airport, going to Thai Airlines and showing them a piece of paper from US Airways does seem a bit surreal

Could you old hands please write some calming words for my wife ;-)

Thanks Paul

Go to the USAirways site. Go to 'Manage Reservation': US Airways | Airline tickets, vacations & business flights

Enter your 6 digit confirmation code and departure date. This will bring up you itin.

The third box down is 'Passengers' in this box is your ticket number (should start with a 0372). If this is there then you have nothing to worry about. The ticket usually takes about 24-48 hours to issue. USAir NEVER send the email conf they talk about when you are on the phone making the booking.

You can also print your itin from this screen. This is the print out I take with me when I travel.

If you are flying with other airlines then you should also call USAirways back and get their respective confirmation numbers. This will usually let you choose seats etc.

If you are flying Thai then your flight number and date is sufficent for them to access your booking to chose seats. Do this ASAP.

As I said in my original post I have already got my seats allocations (pointspro.com did it) so I guess that means I have nothing to worry about

Thanks for the reassurance
