The only 1-stop routing possible between Australia and GUM on Oneworld, with a stopover at the transfer point on the return leg. 30K in J.

Thanks :D

You would need to be extremely flexible and book a long way in advance I'm guessing, given the poor availability compared to *A?

Congrats though - I think the key is keeping it as simple as possible (4 flights rather than 8 or 9 like we used to do).

Correct. One flight to Guam vs. 15 or 20 is extremely frustrating. And there's only so many times you'd want to go to Tokyo vs a smaller Japanese city.

No Saipan or Koror either... regret not booking the latter under *A earlier.

Except the airline in question has a T-90 limitation with US? Or does it??

No, it doesn't - that's for domestic only.

Domestic is 60 days. However a footnote was added to the award chart about 3 month validity for international JL tickets...and some people have come up against it trying to book. The footnote has now quietly disappeared.

We went rather nuts on here booking them in *A!

Can I ask how far in advance you booked, how long ago you booked and how many pax? I tried a more complicated routing 4 months ago and was shot down repeatedly until I gave up (called probably a dozen times). I was quite fixed with my dates though).

Given the restrictions with GUM now I'd be more tempted to try a 'swanning around Australia/NZ on QF' booking given the size of our region and QF's excellent coverage. Sure its not going to include a stopover in a higher zone but you can still get a lot of value and I imagine it would be far easier to book.

Booked <1 month ago, for travel >6 months in advance, 1 pax.

Tried many different fancy routings, but the one-stop was the only one that stuck.

Another thought I've had (only in passing) though is going to either of the two South Pacific Islands served by HA...

And there's the answer we can quote from now on when people ask if they can still book GUM!

Ooooohhhh I never thought of that. Whats the MPM for for SYD-PPT and SYD-PPG?

I'm not sure HA's product is good enough to want to fly long-haul just for the fun of it though?

Can you think of another way to fly HA? :D

Haven't checked, but likely exceeds. Though given its one-stop status, I have confidence it may be possible.

True - but is a great option to try to get to otherwise hard-to-get places.

Sounds like a new challenge, I can see availability flying QF SYD-HNL but BA doesnt let me search HNL-PPT or PPG :(

I dont think you can combine 1W with non-1W flights on the same award booking though?

Do QF and HA have any relationship?

You'd have to use HA the whole way.

I've only thought about this hypothetically though. AA shows HA space on Australia - Hawaii but I can't find any site that shows South Pacific space. Either that, or they don't release any.

People really need to get over the GUM thing. The way some are using it as the sole yardstick of the success - or rather, failure - of the cutover to oneworld is getting inane and ridiculous.

I'd like to know if I'm going to run into MPM issues with this
MEL-DXB-DOH-CDG(stop)-JFK(dest)-HKG-MEL

JFK can be swapped for anything really in the US..

I was asking because the wife and I would like to see what it's like as a place, and as we love Japan, getting a stopover in Tokyo would be perfect
