US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

that's what i thought but i read elsewhere that sometimes they release them 14 days prior to departure and some ppl managed to get them.

sounds like too much messing about

has anyone been able to book Lufthansa first class?

LX have just released notification that from 01 Jan 2014 LX F redemption is only for Miles & More elites (Senator etc.) - it's quite possible and logical that LH F will follow suit. So both of them will likely disappear entirely from general Star Alliance redemption e.g. LifeMiles.

But yes, as already stated, forget about LH F and USDM.

Does this mean that you could not even now book flights that are to be taken from 01 Jan 2014 or that starting from 01 Jan 2014 you cannot book LX F ?
I suspect the latter ?

Well, you can still book LX F, you'd just have to go to swiss.com and actually have the cash ready to do so. :)

Basically LX F redemptions will be out of bounds for M&M base (Blue) and FTL. I suppose as a knock-on this should mean that *A partner availability on LX F should also disappear, but certainly it's not explicitly mentioned there.

In a way, it's somewhat moot as LX F is already near impossible to get via *A partners, even at short notice. At least LH F still has a chance.

People may think that the writing is on the wall, then, for LH F in a similar fashion, but we'll just have to wait.

I don't actually think it would be ridiculous for QF to restrict its F seats to its own FF members, like LX, LH and SQ do. It would give the QF program an edge over the Aa program!

Give an edge how so ?
Certainly not to the consumer (ie, us) unless I have misunderstood you ?

To book QF using AA miles requires considerably less points than to book QF using QFF points.

QFF members already have first dibs at F seats anyway due to ability to book 353 days out as opposed to 330 days out.
Probably 90% of F seats on the MEL/SYD-LAX routes already go to QFF members anyway.

I was lucky enough to fly LH F from Frankfurt to Icheon late last year. The F Terminal plus S class to the plane followed by an intro to the Captain and run down of the flight before anyone else had boarded was pretty special:)

I flew the same flight however I didn't get the intro to the captain as we were running late. My other half got a bit too relaxed in the bath and they had to hold the plane for us.. mildly amusing looking back on it. :)

Was actually just on the phone to USDM trying to book travel for my father from my mothers account... they wanted her to authorise the miles to come out of her account. Needless to say I've had to put the booking on hold for now... Or I could just put on a lady's voice... :D

I just made a booking on Thai for July SYD/BKK... BKK/CDG..CDG/BKK..stop..BKK/SYD,all in F,tax $285.26 & 120,000 points & all ticketed.... :D

M.P.

double check it's in F!! agents have been known to book the wrong class.

Yes MEL_Traveller.. I was concerned also.. but checked on Thai Airways Confirmation & yes it is F, all the way..so all good you would think [ I used BOOK YOUR AWARD service]

li suppose you saved the fee in the mileage reduction... but if you had been correctly charged... using a booking service like that ($300 for two pax for less than 30 minutes work) means you need to value you time at more than $600 an hour!! :)

Probably our last trip on *A on USDM given the merger so thought we'd tick off something on our bucket list and head off to Egypt and Jordan in Jan 2014. Itin is for 2 people

SYD-BKK TG A380 F
BKK-MXP TG A340 F
MXP-CAI MS B737 J (Destination)
CAI-BKK MS B777-300ER J (Stopover)
BKK-SYD TG A380 F

So given the political situation in Egypt at the moment, the Diddy's decided to jump ship and rebook this trip. Took 3 calls but 2 were disconnected by the VOIP at home. It was quite tough finding flights but managed to sneak in some good ones I think anyway:

SYD-BKK TG F
BKK-NRT TG Y - only Y available but will look out for more availability
NRT-CDG NH F
CDG-BKK TG F
BKK-SYD TG F

There will be some side trips mixed in there but happy to have got something sorted out so close to Jan. They refunded the miles (160K) and then we paid 150K. Booking fee was waived as this was a change. Taxes went from $172 to $250 + $150 change fee.

All in all not a bad result and a pretty painless experience with the CSA "Liz".

Hi Diddy, Just did the same due to Egypt issue. Unfortunately couldnt avoid Egypt so 3 hours in airport
Original booking PER-JNB-CAI-BKK-SIN-PER with a stop in JNB and destination CAI
Now PER-JNB-CAI-CDG-BKK-SIN-PER all in business. $150 change fee and about $110 additional tax
Now 5 days in Paris instead of Egypt. I figure marginally safer :)
