US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Yes MEL_Traveller.. I was concerned also.. but checked on Thai Airways Confirmation & yes it is F, all the way..so all good you would think [ I used BOOK YOUR AWARD service]

If I was you I would really be calling USDM to get the correct milage charged you wouldn't want to show up and then have the tickets cancelled for the in correct rate . If this goes past the rate desk they will cancel the ticket . I'm on with mel_traveller with this one !

i am not concerned at all about the incorrect mileage as long as the ticket has been correctly issued.

agents sometimes book in the wrong class. friends of mine were over the moon that they managed to score a business class return to Europe at short notice... I had checked availability and it was extremely tight. turns out the agent had booked economy!

there is no chance USDM will cancel the ticket once it has been issued if it is due to incorrect mileage or some other error (such as exceeding MPM or too many stopovers etc).

if you need to make changes to the booking, it might get picked up at that stage.

in fact I am editing this post to add that there is no evidence to suggest a booking has been cancelled by USDM in these circumstances as it has already been ticketed... it will not go to the rate desk again. the comments about cancellation appear to wantonly create mischief and undue worry.

Ignore Shanye, he is taking the p**s. 'if I was you...' Shanye we know you have been in these situations and haven't called up and rectified it, so this is a blatant lie.

When i booked my tickets and. Got the incorrect milage I was told to call back and fix it immediately or I could run into issues down the track. At the airport , etc . I'm just passing on the same information I received .

But to add my own opinion from experience having a ticket that its incorrectly priced is just a worry everyday . If there's a flight schedule change or aircraft change which TG do so often and you have to contact USDM they may see the error. This has happened to me before. But take it whatever way you want .

[FARE GONE] QR: PNH-DOH-SGN(& other SE Asia destinations)195$++ in Business - Page 51 - FlyerTalk Forums

I'm based in syd and I have three return tickets booked. I'm flying over to bkk then routing myself to take the flights starting in late December early jan . I too am trying to figure out which program to store the miles too. I only fly on QF in domestic when using avios and I have no current status with any airlines . I would want to redeem the miles for either a syd-USA or a syd-Europe trip.

Which would be the best program to use . Also I'm kinda upset they honoured the UA $5 deals when I spent hours trying to book the hkg 4 mile fare which they came out and said its a error sorry too bad. That sucks ! Well for me anyway

Time to update your FF Prog details in your profile Shayne!!

More of the "do as I say, not as I do" rhetoric, would work better if he wasn't boasting over "what I did' elsewhere.

Back to the purpose of this thread. Recently booked for 90k + $172 in taxes.

BNE-BKK TG J
BKK-ICN TG J
ICN-NRT OZJ

destination

NRT-XMN ANA J
XMN-BKK TGJ
BKK-BNE TG J

couldnt get single layover in J so thought I would go to airports I haven't been before in ICN and XMN. The agent gave up trying to pronounce Xiamen after I said "I'm not completely sure but pretty sure its not pronounced "X-Men".

thanks again to the originator of the USDM thread!

In Bangkok waiting for the last leg of this and thought I would update anyone who is "interested" in transiting through Xiamen.

The short story is there is no international transit and they won't through check bags, so you have to go through immigration and customs, collect your bag and recheck in. I was a little nervous as previously when been to China had done so on visas and since I thought I was transiting I hadn't bothered getting one for this trip. Started furiously googling after checkin in Narita and found that the Xiamen airport website spoke of a "streamlined transit" system implemented in September 2012 which "reduced red tape and going through customs". It didn't, no streamlined system however when I got to immigration they accepted my entry without a visa after seeing my itinerary with a departing flight a few hours later, took my passport away to a back room, stamped it and sent me on my way.

i guess I could have run off into the wild blue yonder after getting through customs but decided to turn back around and go back through immigration and come home. When going back through immigration the fellow looked at my passport a little oddly and queried why I had only been in China one day, but all good.

Hey,
Just trying to get my head around how the awards work...
Based on my count that is 6 flights... so 6 x 30,000 = 180,000 points... what am i missing?

Sounds like an amazing deal!

Where did you get 30,000 per flight from? It is 30,000 for the whole trip. But note this is an illegal itinerary under the rules.

It's actually 1 x 30,000 in total for the whole itinerary ie MEL/GUM/MEL return.

Aah, ok...
So 'to' flight is MEL-SIN-NGO-GUM, and then return flight is GUM-KIX-BKK-MEL?

So how then do you get an 8 day stopover in Nagoya? I thought you could only have a decent amount of time at the final destination?
If not, could you then also have a multi day layover in Singapore, Osaka and Bangkok in this ticket? Sounds pretty amazing if you could.

@travelislife: what makes this booking illegal?

Also, this flight is over 17,000 miles. Are these accruable miles? ie the 30,000 miles cost would be more than 50% offset by the mile accrual...
Or would these miles count towards attaining/keeping status?

Thanks for the answers - great for a newbie like me :)

USDM allows SWP-SWP (USDM is based on zones with each country in one) redemptions for 30,000 miles in J, but no stopovers (i.e >24hrs) allowed technically. You are correct in how you have broken up the flights, outbound/inbound. You could have a 23hr 59 minute connection at each of those places you mentioned but no more as that makes it a stopover. Probably worth reading the first page of the Flyertalk thread Star Alliance Award Bookings Using US Airways Miles - FAQ and Help Thread [MERGED] - FlyerTalk Forums to get an idea of the rules and what is allowed.

These are award tickets so you will not earn any miles for travelling.

As these are US DM freq flyer award tickets you don't accrue any points or status credits.

The NGO stopover is an anomaly so shouldn't be treated as the norm. You can have an overnight transit stop in those cities provided your transit doesn't exceed 24 hours.

a good place to start reading is the USDM membership guide, which is on the US airways site. it's only short, about 10 minutes to read. that contains all the rules you'll need.

If you haven't booked a USDM trip before I would start with something much easier than mine. This was months of planning, many, many hours of frustrating phone calls and a huge amount of luck. It is not a normal booking and you should not expect to be able to book it (especially if you have never booked one before).

Or, alternatively, or in addition, read the threads here.
I read every post in every thread about LM and AA on here and on FT, and yes it took me several weeks, but you would find that alot of what would have been questions have already been asked and answered plus much much more.

Might be an ignorant question, but which class of travel are these on?
