Thanks mate, not too bad.

I'm thinking of booking flights for the mrs and then waiting for another seat to come available to book my own.

Worst case scenario is i have to cancel her flights if no other seats get released....

I've noticed a few routes with only 1 seat available (July 2014) would it be safe to assume some airlines release one at a time?

TG releases 2 at a time.... not sure of any of the other airlines though. What route are you looking at, perhaps there's some alternatives?

SQ and there aren't any alternatives as they already blocked access to A380 and 77W's :(

Very wide range of opinions on CA. From MEL you get a flat bed...but it's a day flight. My friends flew MEL-PVG in June and were not impressed. Complaints on board mainly about food & beverage...only Chinese wine, no tonic loaded! *gasp*
Thanks bcworld - the Chinese only wines have me worried. Any other AFFEr with experience on CA J PEK-MEL?

Great award. Must note that agents lack of awareness should not always be regarded as a bad thing!

Great booking! Especially for a first one :-) I didn't even know about that Taipei to JFK flight, so thanks for enlightening me.

Get back to us when you pay and ticket this up.

Although it rarely happens otherwise, you're not quite out of the woods even if you have something on hold.

Looks good, though.

Oh yea my bad... JFK is my dedestination.

will confirm it all tomorrow, have to talk to a friend in the US

got a great agent, total call length was 8 mins!

77W with full flat beds, can book the cook too. Should be a fun 14 hours!

how do I go about selecting actual seats for the flights?

what I forgot to say earlier is that I'm concerned about the hold. I though air china was the last requiring almost instant ticketing? sq used to, but they have now supposedly moved that out to three days (but I would never trust that with sq).

please ticket as soon as you can!

as for your seating...

you should ask USDM for any record locators they have (they are different to the USDM master locator) and then you ring each airline on your itinerary and after you have selected your seats you specifically ask 'do you have a ticket number against this booking?'

it is the best security you can have.

then baby-sit your reservation once a fortnight by checking airlineroute.net for any changes.

Anyone know what the current go is on TG Rimowa amenity kits?

Have they completely replaced the Tumi kits now, or are there particular routes?

My folks received Rimowa kits on both BKK/LHR and LHR/BKK flights they flew in F recently, which were on refurbished (new suite product in F) 744s. The word was before that Rimowa kits were only available on A380 flights (or at least that was a guarantee of getting them).

rimowa were originally available on a380 services only.

of late there have been reports that they are also being offered on other flights. I don't know if it's every flight or just selected ones.

5 weeks ago we received the old Tumi ones on our SYD-BKK flights, but got the Rimowa kits on our 747 BKK-FCO flights. Very happy:D.
It will be interesting to see what we get on BKK-SYD in 10 days.

Hi guys,

I have lost my USDM virginity a few days ago, on October 1 to be precise. In my USDM profile, I can see three different record locators, one each for US, TG and LX. An eticket number is also visible and when calling up TG and LX to select seats, they found my bookings without a problem.

However, I am slightly concerned that I cannot locate either of the bookings on checkmytrip.com. I actually like checking my booking from time to time, should I be worried? Entering each reservation number on the airline's website displays the booking but it is my understanding that checkmytrip should also work for USDM bookings... or maybe I am wrong.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Same experience here, Tumi ones on the (old 10 F) SYD-BKK and Rimowa on the A340 BKK-ZRH

No CMT doesn't work for US bookings. As far as I know there is no CMT type website for SHARES - the system US uses. Although TG uses Amadeus from memory the TG PNR doesn't work on CMT when booked via US.
