Thai HKG<>BKK service reductions Jul - Oct.

THAI July – Oct 2014 Hong Kong Service Reductions | Airline Route

Waited with baited breath while this one opened...as I have HKG-BKK as part of a GUM booking in October. Seems they have deleted the late flight which departed HKG around 2245...originally that would've been my top choice but didn't ask for it as it would have made my HKG layover >24 hours...glad I didn't push my luck now!

Phew! Thankfully 606 and 601 are still there! Wish they had at least 1 service a day on the A380 though.

They only ran the A380 between BKK/HKG when they received it didn't they? I flew the route in April and had old F.

Still better than a poke in the eye.

I think it operated HKG<>BKK for a long time.

I think my Oct GUM trip may have bitten the dust. :(

My initial sector is MEL-PVG, and PVG is the longest stop on the trip, was 71 hours. Now it seems the flight is not operating on Friday, the day I planned to depart and we've been moved to Saturday. Zero award space showing at all that week. I'd consider going Thursday and get the visa, but I'd guess US negotiating with CA is incredibly unlikely. Plus I now have to draw attention to the ticket and it's PVG stopover at 30k!

Given that PVG was the 'real' destination I'm not sure that 47 hours will cut it...and the trip, which I'm struggling to get buy in for from my OH will likely be vetoed now!

It seems that CA178 MEL-PVG has gone from 5 to 4 weekly...not seeing it on airlineroute.net yet. Sucks for me that Friday is the day deleted.

In negotiations with my partner now...LOL.

Go! If you have been to Guam before I reckon it is definitely worth it!

seasonal all I would suspect? they'll be busy around uni and Christmas times. a couple weeks ago the flight was fairly empty, in each direction. I'm not surprised they have reduced service.

Just booked a business class ticket or my daughter for Jan/Feb .

From my post in the other thread:

First post here.

Basically it looks like MPM has decreased in the last couple of weeks, as previously Melbourne or Sydney was about 8268 miles (can't remember which was slightly higher, think Sydney was), now down to 5k mark.

My theory is that the MPM is based on a united ticket sold via CNS and then 25%, but even that is not making 100% sense, and even MNL which you would think would be quite permissible is over the MPM even though PR sell tickets for SYD-GUM

Perhaps its just an error or perhaps its been done on purpose to stop the awards....

Was really hoping to book a oneworld version via HKG in First, but Qantas and now MPM have put a stop to that.

RE getting stopovers or exceeding MPM, I always had the experience that it only worked one way or the other. So you could exceed MPM if you did not have a stopover, or if you did not exceed MPM you could swing a stopover.

Hi all, well my trip is fast approaching:

PER-BKK (TG-J) BKK-PVG (TG-J) PVG-YVR (AC-J)
YVR-PEK (AC-J) PEK-BKK (TG-J) BKK-PER (TG-J)

Any tips or things I need to do before leaving? Do I need to reconfirm with USDM (or the individual airlines - I have already selected seats) everything is still in place?

provided they have a ticket number against the booking you are good to go.

I would always check with the individual airlines (either their website or by phone) to confirm they have the ticket number (if you haven't already done so)

This theory would have bean a good one when US was in *A if the theory was you must go on the most direct route (or near to it - hence the 25% loading). However United now no longer an option.

Sorry sent previous post prematurely. Have to agree with Babs13. They seem to be no be applying the +25 to mpm.

Looking at doing exactly the same, except departure port and return port will be SYD x2.
