you sure got that right.. been trying more than 10 times now. given up trying the CX out of ADL directly via HKG and just trying SYD-NRT-GUM but no go anyway

If you're planning to try again, perhaps set up the booking (overnights only) and put it on hold. Next call ask to move one of the flights by a couple days (building in your stopover).

That won't make much difference- they'll put anything on hold, valid or not. A routing won't avoid the rates desk just because it was previously put on hold.

Please let us know how you go though- it's interesting to know if the deal is dead.

What time are you calling? I have found that it does sometimes affect whether you get away with more creative routings.

When I booked my original trip for later this month I got denied a stopover every time.

I'd assume the only way you could get it now is to book the trip with several nights in GUM then confirm and pay for it, at a later date call back and pay the $150 change fee and attempt to get the GUM-NRT leg changed to an earlier date thus creating a stopover.

Worth a try, but you may just end up with a trip to GUM and no stopover. Like MEL_Traveller said, worst case scenario you will get a night in Tokyo each way as the flights don't connect

This is exactly what I want to do (2 pax), but need to go around week of April 12th next so guess far to late. Was thinking though, might try to book a few days before then as might be some last minute CX seats.

I also doubt it's possible but you only have your own time to lose so it's always worth a shot.

I called around 2100 BNE time & got a call center agt in PHX Jenny who was great.

Try telling them that there's no other way to get there without exceeding mpm (if we overlook UA ex CNS for a moment - not that there's every any "I" class seats on UA99 anyway).

AFAICT QF (or any oneworld airline for that matter) do not operate a flight to Papeete (PPT). QF, I believe, have codeshare agreements to PPT with Air Tahiti Nui, but they are not a oneworld member.

Therefore, US DM can't be used to fly to PPT using the oneworld member airlines.

You're right. No OW to PPT from Oz but so far as i know, LAN does fly to PPT from Santiago.

Bloody unbelievable call as well - must be super lucky - took 30 minutes from start to end
Almost going to hang up initially because it took so long to connect
Agent answered - no problems with finding each flight first time (didn't even ask me "Ade-what?")
Got to the end and read me back all my flights ("are you sure you only want 1 day in GUM?" - yes)
Agent: "here's your confirmation numbers - would you like to ticket now?"
"yes please absolutely"
takes all details
totally expected her to say "i'm going to place you on hold ........"
she DID NOT SAY THAT...
went right ahead to confirm all my flights and receipt is now in my mailbox

only weird thing is she initially said "30,000 miles" but got to the end and said "actually it's 45,000 miles"
i didn't even bother trying to correct her - didn't want her to go checking... so just paid.

all in all. 30mins from start to end.
paid 45,000 per person and USD215 in taxes.

after 11 calls this is awesome. definitely not as good as appaz and his recent 30,000 miles and 185 USD but i'll take it.

1) i'm sure i've stumbled on this somewhere in my reading on the forum but what's class "U" - it says unknown - - would not be funny if she ticketed me in economy
2) is there a way i can check my ticket on the airlines website? do i get an amadeus code or something similar?

I've been calling so many times mate. i've been at this since end of Jan.

I actually booked one and the same thing happened, verbally told me 30k, booked for 45k and it wasnt my favourite routing so I cancelled and refunded.
found some better routing and trying again, glad it lets you go through to the actual sales team now and you dont have to pretend you are going to change an existing reservation to speak to an agent, bloody snowstorms.
