Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

We are booked for our booster in a week or so and have been told it is a full dose of Pfizer.

I had my booster of Pfizer a week ago, I asked if it was same dose as 1 and 2 and they said it was.

Four months later and I am finally considered fully vaccinated... thankfully I will no longer need to carry my exemption letter with me and worry about whether places will accept it. Received a dose of Astra this morning after receiving a dose of Pfizer back in August.

With cases starting to increase in Sydney and particularly in the area I live in, relieved is an understatement.

This morning I had my booster at 5 months 2 days after my second Vaxzevria shot. Pfizer this time.

Just walked into the Claremont Showgrounds hub. In and out in about 10 minutes. Once again, I didn't sit around for the 15 minutes.

The only effect I have noticed in the 2.5h since my 5G upgrade was a slight tingling/cold feeling in my hand around my little finger after about 0.5-1h, but it was barely above the it's my imagination threshold.

So now my booster is tomorrow at a Chemist warehouse as I want moderna not Pfizer.
They told me yesterday to ring at 0900 and book in for today. Would have helped if they ever answered the phone. The website is not set up for Moderna booster yet.
Wednesday was fully booked so i pulled the I am in charge of the local covid surge ward and was fitted in.

As per @JohnM I am having my booster 5 months and 2 days after my AZ second shot.

What is your reason for wanting Moderna over Pfizer?

I just booked my booster for 22nd Dec which is exactly 5 months from dose 2 (same time). Took 2 minutes to book online as the mass vax centre had all details saved from two earlier doses that they administered, no need to enter the date and time etc.

The booster survey had new questions re whether you have previously had Covid19 or Mycarditis/Periocarditis from an earlier dose - neither of these was asked aead of dose 2.

Timed nicely as have 23rd & 24th off work lest there be unlikley side effects.

I had my Booster jab this morning at a chemist shop in Pacific Fair shopping centre on the Gold Coast. I would have been eligible for it on 1 January 2022, but the bring forward of the threshold to five months made it possible to have it today. There was minimal fuss or delay at the chemist shop, as I had pre-booked and pre-filled the associated paperwork.

I received the Moderna vaccine and now six hours after the jab, I've not felt any reactions to it. With the Queensland border now open to southern visitors, and a trip planned to Adelaide for Christmas, it seems like a sensible thing to have as much vaccine protection as possible.

As per the other thread, had Moderna yesterday afternoon after initial double Pfizer at my local chemist.

They'd already looked up by Medicare record and determined it was a booster so had prepared the half dose (25cc) Moderna shot.

(My choice of Moderna was it's a slightly higher dosage even at 25cc strength so might last a bit longer than Pfizer from US studies, and it might be slightly different in formulation. But if I couldn't get the appointment I would have happily had Pfizer as well).

Five hours after Moderna booster similar sore arm symptoms to Pfizer 2.
24hrs after still a sore arm (worse than Pfizer) but none of the chills or lethargy that i felt after Pfizer 2.

For those having the Moderna booster, make sure you have nothing planned the next day. 🤢

Had the shot at 1000, and by 1800 had a sore arm and felt fluey. Took today off as I still feel blech. Hopefully will ease overnight as the reaction from my fist jab was a 36hr thing.

We'll no doubt get a report from @drron about his Moderna experience tomorrow.

BTW, what vaccine did you have for the first two shots?

I didn’t want to overthink all of this and couldn’t be bothered to go vax-shopping. Last week, I took whatever vax was going at the time.

2 x AZ, and then the Pfizer booster (at six months). The (barely) sore arm effect had gone within 48 hours. Maybe in six months time I can get another top-up. 😀

After first two shots of Pfizer, got Moderna as a booster yesterday around noon. Went with Moderna only because there were appointments for that available earlier. Was going to go to a state hub but for some reason none of the ones nearby had any online availability for weeks (what is going on??), so booked at a local pharmac_ instead. Had a slight sore arm afterwards.

This morning felt a little congested. Early afternoon, started going downhill - headache, fever. Nothing awful but glad I didn't have anything big scheduled either, so could just stay home quietly reading AFF which is my usual night anyway.

If the failure of my immune system to respond to the first two shots showed it was lacklustre, this time it's certainly making itself known. Hoping this blows over and I wake up tomorrow morning fresh as a daisy.

What’s the general consensus on optimal booster after 2 x Pz, or does it not matter? I seem to recall at a point there was talk of of mixing doses to add greater protection, but was that for 1st and 2nd, or applies to 3rd as well? My wife and I are both Bi-Pfi, and have access (I expect) to both mRNA booster options.

Cheers,
Matt.

2x AZ five-ish months ago.

I would have had to wait a week for the chemist to get Pfizer, so I took the Moderna when I walked in yesterday.

Both the USA and Singapore have found a Moderna booster after double Pfizer is better than 3 Pfizer.

There are various opinions floating around. Time will tell, and still early days. Horses for courses to some extent.

The booster data is all relatively recent. I went with what I could easily get at the time on the basis that any vax has to be better than none.
