Are you sure? Asked for status match in the BNE lounge on 26/08/2011 and status match came through on 02/09/2011 with an expiry date of 02/09/2012. I am assuming that 'Platinum member from' would also be on the day it was actually processed on the system. Anyway.

I am sure if you stopped by the BNE lounge they would give you a book.

I have no idea who Luke Mangan is, and really have no interest, but from references to Neil Perry I am guessing they have similar roles at VA/QF.

He makes sandwiches for VA while Neil has the QF catering menu task - slightly upmarket from the sangas.

He's also made the Luke Manghan Pies, and the LM Party Pies. His J Class meals on A330 is where his food shines.

My QF Gold status match at the Westfield Sydney booth has paid off. I am currently sitting in SIN T2 Krisflyer Gold lounge on my way to India. The lounge staff weren't familar with the Velocity Gold card (and hard to look it up in a list, and then hesitated because it was a temporary hand written one) but they let me in.

Hey, hey....lucky you! The temp cards I think are for domestic access only ;)

I just got matched! There is a god.

I applied at 12:30pm on Thursday 25th with two cards, an Asiana Star Alliance Gold, and KLM Gold. I got matched to Velocity Gold sometime between 5pm and 9pm tonight. Boo yah! Just in time for my 6am out of OOL tomorrow morning.:D

No welcome email yet though...

That's a little unusual AdamR, but I don't know anything about email/IT etc, so can't respond to the question with any authority. I'd keep the "read receipt" email (or in your case not-read ) in case it doesn't get processed in a couple of days. Perhaps a call might solve the question and settle your concern.

Looks like most (if not all) from 26th August are now processed (at the account upgrade part of the process). Anyone from that date still not received the confirmatory email "Welcome to Velocity [Silver/Gold/Platinum] membership"?

Mine's the 26th too - still nothing....

I lied - mine's from the 25th ... and still waiting.....

Any toilets or showers in the KrisFlyer T2 Gold lounge? According to this there are none, which sounds a bit suss.

No showers, toilets in new Singapore lounge for frequent flyers - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

That's correct. No more shower facilities at SIN SQ lounge for EG and *G travelling in Y? - SQTalk
Velocity Gold / Plats only have access to the inferior Kris Flyer Gold lounge (without the showers / toilets:shock:) at Changi, and not the better Silver Kris lounge....Velocity are apparently working for Plats to have access to the latter lounge but I wouldn"t be holding my breath....

That's correct. No more shower facilities at SIN SQ lounge for EG and *G travelling in Y? - SQTalk

Imagine what would happen if QF WPs flying Y were banned from the QF FLounge and the QF international J lounge and restricted to the QP international lounge but could not use the showers or toilets.

That decision by SQ is almost beyond belief. What is the big deal with providing a few toilets and showers?

As we have shown before, earning say QF WP will cost around the same spend flying -Y, Y, J or F. So assuming the same is true of a *A Gold, any *A Gold flying Y or -Y would have spent around the same money per year retaining their tier rating as would have a *A Gold flying J or F. So what is the reason to withhold toilet and shower facilities while still providing the lounge, seating, internet, food and booze to *A Golds flying *A -Y or Y? Someone was not thinking.

Lets trust SQ management rethinks this rather stupid decision, which will effect VA's WP using that lounge. I mean we WPs or other top tier FFers are all brothers in the end and we need to stick together when airlines make stupid decisions like this one as otherwise the SQ disease may spread to other airlines.

Here I do call to your attention the latest WP flying -Y or Y lack of recent bonus point increase. So my fellow WPers, do not think this move by SQ is a one off. I for one worry that it may foreshadow additional QF WP "Enhancements" to those of us who fly -Y or Y.

For those of us who were used to being *G well before neo-VA/VFF existed, we welcome our new VFF brethren to this rather paltry realisation. (In fact, the fact it is only realised now en masse - even by AusBT - seems rather underwhelming really.)

FWIW even when *Gs could access the T2 SATS premier lounge, there was only 1 shower & I'd been lead to believe it was barely sufficient, and that is if you were even prepared to wait for it.

I don't see SQ giving VA Platinums access to the SilverKris lounges (which have showers), unless you fly SQ J or F. It's one of the sides that we *Gs (and even SQ*Gs) have come to "embrace" as part of SQ's reluctant participation in *A. As uve said many times, there will be much dangerous precedent and uproar if VA Plats are granted SilverKris lounge access on Y tickets:
  • From *A partially, though one could argue that *G is not the same as VA Plat, with the latter being a higher tier,
  • From KF members, as to get into the SilverKris lounges on a Y ticket you must be a PPS member. The effort required to get PPS far exceeds VA Plat. So there will be uproar from both PPS and middling to high SQ*G members.

Of course, SQ could just change its rules, or install showers for the KF Gold lounges. I'm not holding my breath on either, particularly for the latter SQ will have to hollow out a non-trivial amount of terminal space. People have complained about no showers and have expressed to SQ time and time again that they should be provided. The stock standard response dished out makes QF seem like gospel. I think one response came back suggesting that the customer use the publicly available facilities.

I think this is getting off topic but I think SQ is correct. Consider how many people are being matched Velocity Gold and Platinum not to mention other programs and perks all over the world. How many people should they let into the Silver Kris lounge and in what way have they actually earned it? Head down to the Qantas Club on a Friday afternoon (or any afternoon) They don't want it to become like that.

In all honesty we are spoilt for lounges locally by comparison to most of the world, to a certain extent SQ may look "tight" when it comes to lounge access and facilities but I wonder how much it has to do with the overall facilities at Changi, its not like there is a world of boredom beyond the lounge doors. And SQ have been treating VS Gold the same for a while, unlike DJ they have an investment in that airline!

Applied via email on the 27th for match to gold still no news.

Subject : Gold

Email body : DJ #

Not sure if there's any truth in this maybe it would have been quicker if DJ# and Gold was in the Subject header o.0" my mate applied around the same time and he's received a reply.

The instructions were to put the words "STATUS MATCH" in the subject header and attach the relevant proof. You should have at least received an email stating that your application had been accepted. Maybe your application was not picked up by their system. I would check with them or put in another application if I was you.
