Not consistent, somewhere in the 47 pages I read of people that got confirmation within a couple of days of submitting (and not the first ones of the block when it opened up) and others have been waiting for a while. The confirmation email I received was that they would process it within 4 weeks.

There are others who are in the same boat so I would not worry just yet. The email did say 'Thank you for requesting a status match with Velocity Frequent Flyer. We will process your request within the next four weeks.'

.... and I did check prior to posting.

Applied today (about 4 hours ago) on my family's behalf - 3 x WP. Emailed in PDFs of our QFF Summary pages. All of us were no-status Velocity members. We are all already showing as Virgin Platinum online.

That was quick!

(and quite happy to share a bit of love with Virgin) - those 4 x upgrades are very tempting for MEL-PER runs - admittedly I've had a 50% op-up success rate with Qantas on that score to date.

That one was done quite quick...

A fundamental issue is that the promotional advert blatantly states, "we'll match your current status today" and "match now" yet they are doing no such thing, when you click the link the fine print tells you it may take 4 weeks. This sort of thing comes under a certain heading which I won't go into here. This is afterall essentially a givaway, nevertheless the wording is perhaps mmmmm....;)

11 days and counting for me.

I will ad that IMO if QF did this people would be screaming about it

What? If QF gave you a shedload of stuff for free but had the hide to make you wait 11 days [of an advertised 28] for it you think "people would be screaming about it"? Reality check. Please.

The ad says TODAY (not 28), that is the issue I am refering to. And as I said, 11 days and counting. And if QF did this...it would not pass without critical comment. Reality check right back atya:!:

Has anyone who got matched in the Canberra lounge had it processed yet?
Mine is from Aug 27.

The terms and conditions were totally clear when you applied and there is no indication that they won't be honoured. You're not even pretending that you were misled by them. Critical comment, perhaps but "Screaming"? Oh, come on.

You're problem - unless i've somehow misread this - is simply that you're excited and impatient. Not that Virgin have done anything wrong, you just wish that they'd do it quicker. I'm sympathetic. However if you are successful (not sure if you are being matched to gold, silver or plat) virgin will give you benefits worth hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. It's a benefit that i had to earn by spending many, many thousands of dollars with their airlines and you're getting it for free. I would be a little bit patient and a little bit grateful if i was in your position rather than complaining about the fact it has taken 11 days and counting.

Yes I think you are mis-reading. But I will take up your points for some clarifcation.

I have no particular problem, I was commenting on the wording of their promotion, which has issues.

Excited, not especially. I have VA lounge access already through another card and when you have flown as much as me you find nothing terribly exciting about those lounges.

Nothing is for free my friend. Virgin are attempting to gain the loyalty and business of FFlyers, especially high tier flyers, which is fine, good on them.

There is nothing to be grateful for, Business is business. Virgin are not doing this as a charity.

11 days and counting. Only highlighting the potential discrepancy between their promotional wording and the reality.

And screaming about QF. Read some other parts of the forum over the years.

Cheers.

There was a mechanism to get the upgrade 'Now', and that was to turn up at a lounge and have it done. Temporary card and all issued on the spot.

A Batch of Platinum cards were sent out recently, Misha recieved his this morning. You recieve three baggage tags, not two.

The back of the Platinum card is purple

Mine wasn't in my PO box last night, but may be time for a trip to check it. I'm heading out to the airport this evening and will be calling by the lounge, so a real plat card would be nice:)

(oh and I just love the DJ purple).

Hahaha. Don't worry, I called home to see if there was anything for me. There wasen't :(

Two week wait they are saying, I only hit Platinum on Friday, so I've got a bit of a wait.

You're welcome to ask for a temporary card at the lounge which will allow you to enjoy the benefits of your upgraded status on domestic services. As advised, you may want to print a copy of your email confirmation and inform staff at the lounge that you've already lodged your status match claim online so that we do not duplicate your claim and potentially cause a delay in processing.

I thought I recognized you, Kieth009, in the Melbourne lounge this morning.... Thanks for your help and the temporary platinum card....! ;)
