Disagree with you on that.

Other than answering that it will be done within four weeks, I am not sure they can really say anything else.

Sure, as outsiders it looks all over the place in terms of how long individual matches are taking, but it is all within how long they said it would take.

Does that mean that status matched people are not getting the whole package with the 3 tags?

I was matched to silver, and sent them an enquiry by email. Apparently the tags will be delivered within 21 days. Hubby, who was matched to Gold, received a nice little package in the mail today, which I didnt open, but it definately contains more than just a card.

So I had my card within 2 weeks but no tags; hubby got the full kit in just over two weeks. Pretty good service, now if they could just provide more 'business' timed flights he might actually make some bookings. Travelled jetstar last night from Perth - booked before we got status matched to Virgin. Staff were pleasant, but they did do some things I have never seen on a plane before.

Why the matches come through in any particular order could be for any one of many reasons that are not easily defined.

You're right, but hey we are on a forum, part of the reason for being here is discussion, debate and to ask questions. If no answer is forthcoming, so be it.

I received a package in the mail the other day. Thought it was my Platinum card arriving but it only contained my Silver card and bag tag which I earned nearly 4 weeks earlier. So if it takes that long to get a card that has been earned then I presume that it will take a while for the status match packages to arrive. I applied on 25th and was confirmed on 30th. Email arrived 31st.

Any post putting pressure on another member for an answer will be referred for moderation, as it could be considered a form of harassment (even if unintentional).

The evolution of the AFF community over the years has been significant, part of that evolution has seen the creation of "REP" tags for company representatives, this is not a move to make AFF an official channel, more so its is a way to authenticate any response a "REP" may give as being from the company concerned. As such all responses remain voluntary be it a public post or even via a PM!

Both Virgin Australia and Qantas Reps have shown their appreciation and care when it comes to AFF and its members

Maybe status matches are getting them quicker, which is a bit unfortunate, but Hubby was nowhere near any status with virgin until this matching promotion. So this is his match promotion package. I shoulda opened it up hey? :)

I requested status match on 28/08/11 and received silver status today. Nice to see that silver get 2 lounge passes and free baggage. Lounge membership is $300 with no joining fee for silver members. I can say goodbye to Jetstar now.

Has it come through yet?

I applied in person at Westfield on Wednesday 7th Sep. My account was showing Platinum when I checked on the evening of Friday 9th - so it updated sometime between taking a 5pm flight on DJ out of Sydney (where I still showed as Gold), and when I checked that night.

Nope, still nothing. The conversation I'd with the staff at the time didn't give me much confidence, now, the lack of results seems to confirm my initial impression.

My Welcome to Velocity Platinum email just arrived. Web site status was updated 2 days ago. Applied by email 27 Aug 2011. Received temp WP card at the Mel lounge 29 Aug 2011.

Thanks VA. :D

Hi all, just received my email confirmation of upgrade to gold. Took 3 or 4 days an excellent turnaround and a great opportunity to try a new product at the same level as current Qantas. Thanks Virgin!:)

I applied on the 25th and am still waiting, not that it really matters as long as it comes through, but who likes waiting :)

For the record, I sent my status match email on Sat 27th, and it looks like I was bumped up to Platinum on the 5th according to my account screen cap above.
Haven't actually received any notification as yet.
Further for the record, my confirmation email came through this afternoon.

I challenge you to a duel on who takes longest to get the match  (I applied on the 26th, so you're one day ahead so far)

I also applied on August 25 and so far nuffing. Any VA reps around? I'm more than willing to give VA my business.

Riiiiight! I think the expression "flash as a rat with a gold tooth" is pertinent - application process:

Applied for QF Gold match 2nd Sept, at 0733h,
Confirmation of application received 2nd Sept, at 0735h, and
Status allocated as Gold overnight ie 12th/13th Sept.

Can't complain about that - nunc est bibendum!

As an update: we have received a large number of Status Match applications. As you would appreciate, these take a great deal of time to process. We have added overtime staff over this past weekend to increase the number processed applications and many of you would have been upgraded as a result of this.

In terms of prioritisation, we do prioritise based on both tier and date.

Status Match Submitted / Received: Marco Polo Diamond - Velocity Platinum

I gotta fess up - I did front up to The Lounge at MEL this am and temp cards issued on spot.

Matched Cruiserettes Marco Polo Gold to Velocity Gold - agent then proceeded to give me Velocity Silver for my Marco Polo Diamond.

WTF

Oh sorry Sir - I thought silver colour of card meant silver status - got that fixed pronto.

Hubby's gold package arrived yesterday - 2 weeks after match application. Once I figured out how to open the book - oh my, beautiful presentation. Nicely done Virgin! Two gold luggage tags with the cute metal strap.
