Lovestravellingoz,

V's posters saved me about $2k on one trip by hinting that Vaust might have great fares in the wings. Months passed and then finally there were those $999, $1300, $1400 fares. Woo hooo.

.

months past eh?

Ok..here is a tip Virgin, JQ and QF will all have specials.....;)

Just remember to credit me when they come to pass.

Well everyone take a breather. The recent Velocity communication specifies a countdown on the offer details.

So we'll still have to wait, but at least we know when it should be coming.

Hey anat0l, you know how excited we all get, and half the fun is trying to "guess" what the promo is.. (then stream the long silence when no one hits that mark)

I am not sure why the confusion..
My confusion is because IMO Dave was never in, to start with.

Anyway, I appreciate where you're coming from, but perhaps I don't exactly agree.

Can't wait to see what the promo is anyway. But I'm not sure it'll help me, with a NAB rewards card.... ho hum

Having just read posts #53 to the end I'm appalled at the pasting that crazydave98 has received from lovetravellingoz.

In my opinion the comments are inappropriate and uncalled for.

No further comment from me on the topic :!:

+1 from me. Trolls don't belong here, postitive contributions to the community do.

+2 from me. We should be trying to encourage airline staffer contributions. Plus I always find he goes out of his way to deal with any gripes/service issues people may have.

I'm not sure lovetravellingoz was trolling, just strongly expressing his true opinion. I appreciate his reasoning but I think we should just agree to disagree. :-|

Virgin has launched spaceisnotforamateurs dot com as part of this promotion... looks as though someone is off to space! But the link to not using a Qantas direct earn card is?

Reverse psychology campaign? A quaint exercise.

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Branson should put his silver foil space helmet back on. That'll repel the marketing dept's thought control beams

I know I said I would not comment again but just one more.

I don't see the comments from lovetravellingoz as trolling just as an unreasonable and unprovoked attack on someone who has always and quite clearly stated his allegiances and position.

I see from Amex's site they've got a deal with Delta for Skymiles. Is skymiles worth looking into? Are Delta renown for competitive prices?

I plan an annual cattle class trip to San Francisco from Melbourne. V's Hawaiian want $630US for 3 lousy pairs of skis: get knotted. V's trips to LAX mean a hotel in LA followed by an 8-10 hour drive to Lake Tahoe . Qantas seem to be giving cattle class ff points to everyone so I fear their ff seats will be harder to get than hens teeth. And now there's Delta coming along. So is this Skymiles thing worth looking into?

I don't believe they are an Australian Amex partner.

A message from Ground Control.

21 January 2009.

Dear Friends,
We're posting this message today to gather your support, as there's been a leak here at Velocity Rewards. It's possible you've heard the news that one very lucky person will soon have the chance to win 25 Million Velocity Points. If so, you're well within your rights to find out more.
At this time very little can be revealed of what we have planned. While it pains us to disappoint, we've been sworn to secrecy til the 1st of the month. Let’s just say that Velocity Members will soon be in the running for their choice of extraordinary experiences, one of which you might call an out-of-this-world rush.
But we need your help. It seems a group of astronauts, lead by a man calling himself "Sgt Major Scott Peterson", are having a few turf war issues and are making a rather public fuss. We're not just talking angry letters to the editor and talkback radio – we're talking blogging, Facebook petitions and YouTube posts. We need your help to stop these troubled souls before they spoil it for the rest of us. Please have your say. Please fight back.
We hope you can accept our sincerest apologies for being unable to reveal more information at this time. We simply cannot risk another leak. We hope however that you'll join with us to fight the good fight, so that one very lucky person can experience the opportunity of a lifetime.

Yours,
The Velocity Team

The line that caught me eye is " one of which you might call an out-of-this-world rush".which to me suggests a free Virgin Galactic fllight?

Guess their creative people spent a few hours on this!
And still no idea what is happening! Possibly a chance to win a ride on a space shuttle but wouldn't that require the person to be in shape and have formal training before an "out-of-this-world rush"?

No, not the shuttle. you've not heard of the Ansari x-prize?

A few years back there was a prize of millions (?) to whoever could put up a craft into space twice in a week that could carry some passengers. I'll google a link in a second. Anyway, there was a winner and then **** (Richard) or Virgin group brought the rights to the aircraft or some such thing. Thus was born Virgin Galatic, which plan to offer like 30 minutes flights to space, from a single location. So no good for travel from A to B. Note I think there has been some delay as Virgin is working on a new and improved craft based on Space Ship One.

So it appears the whole selling point of the promotion would be to use your credit card more often or fly more often for a miniscule chance to win a 30 minute space flight? Wow, I am impressed. Why not give us something more useful and easier to achieve?
