Velocity Offer 'that's out of this world'

So it appears the whole selling point of the promotion would be to use your credit card more often or fly more often for a miniscule chance to win a 30 minute space flight? Wow, I am impressed. Why not give us something more useful and easier to achieve?
Well I kinda made up the details a bit - it could be 45 minutes ;).

But given the suggestion of 25 million points. I think the prize will be 25 millions points, which could be used to redeem a space flight. Or it could be used to redeem many not space flights.

I think I would use my 25 million for free flights for life! :)

That was exactly my thoughts, I just couldn't be bothered saying it

Didn't someone say, I think crazyDave98, that the promotion was a whole lot more than just giving one person a miniscule chance of winning 25 million points? I am not going to use my credit card more often or fly DJ more often just for a silly chance at trying to win a competition....

Goodness knows what it is at this point, we've really only got a vague teaser and some educated guesses to go on. I'm going to reserve judgement until I actually see what it is.

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 21 Jan 2025
- Earn 60,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

Hmmm, there's no rocket scientists in the marketing dept:)
I dunno, from a few fairly uninformative teasers they've managed to generate 11 pages of discussion on here... I think they've done fairly well so far.

It is very brave of them to run a marketing campaign like this.

I kind of like it but think the execution could be better.

Interesting.... Good on em for doing something a bit different.

I added the Sgt to my facebook friends... see what he has to say on there!

It will. The galactic thing is the attention-getter but not where the bulk of the action will be.

I actually only just saw the website
Space is not for Amateurs » Blog Archive » RESIDENTS OF AUSTRALIA
for the first time just now. Actually pretty creative and funny if you ask me - but you knew I would say that ;). Anyway it lets the cat out of the bag that any Velocity member with enough points will be able to get a flight on Virgin Galactic, and part of the promo is to win enough points to do that. But wait there's more.....

The negativity shown in this thread is interesting. I'm wondering if in part it's because it's a Velocity offer (as opposed to a Qantas offer)?

Ok - what have we learnt so far?
* Velocity is going to offer a reward for 25 million points to fly on Virgin Galactic's flight (similar to what Virgin Atlantic has done).
* They are going to have a promo with a 1st prize of 25 million points.
* There are going to be additional incentives as part of the promotion (perhaps bonuses on transfer of points )
* There are additional prizes possibly available.
* We'll know more in early Feb.

Waiting sounds like a plan and is what I'm doing.

Hi there

Do I get a prize for finding the website?

Anyway 25,000,000 point is enough for MEL-SYD-MEL on GO! Fares every day for about 3 years or about 21 years worth at one round trip a week:shock:

Cheers

lovetravellingoz came about as my preference was lovetravelling (my hotmail address that I created backpaking through India over two decades ago) but this was not available and so I added the oz.

Highly unlikely you created your hotmail account over two decades ago unless you can time travel as according to wikipedia.....

The Hotmail web-based email service was founded by Jack Smith and Sabeer Bhatia and launched in July of 1996.

I am in the process of evaluating my credit cards, looking for the best rewards program etc... unfortunately the Virgin promo is annoying me because I don't want to have to wait to throw their offer into the mix of options I am reviewing.

However, because of my undying loyalty to DJ (87 flights with them last year - 5 with QF) I will wait to see what the offer is.

Is it possible that they will only release a few more details on Feb 1, or will the whole offer be ready to roll out by then? I hope it is the latter.

I was very impressed with the real story on virgin galatic's site.

A UA/DJ/Velocity points sharing thing might be in the wings too - there's a new post today on UA's drop down saying DJ are a partner airline.

But Dave, lots of people need their long overdueAmex bonii asap. Some of still haven't got responses from Amex after a month or longer. Some are still wondering about whether to write to Amex.

As regards UA and DJ I think that crazydave98 has covered that in this post on another thread.

Sorry but if that's the promotion I think you're referring to it was an Amex promotion (aimed at putting pressure on QF) and Amex sets terms conditions and timing of points transfer. We have already let them know that their tardiness is frustrating our members and reflecting poorly on us but we haven't got a bigger stick to hit them over the head with.
cheers
