Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

So I heard in the last week that a "new" website that merges VA and Velocity together is launching in the next month... I wonder if this upgrade is part of that?

Edit: I head this from VA people.

The announcement from Velocity (http://www.velocityrewards.com.au/content/Scheduled-maintenance/index.htm) specifically mentions "Add your Velocity membership number to a current booking" and "Retrieve a booking with your Velocity membership number". These are all tasks that are done using the IBE on the Virgin Australia website (obviously with back-end interaction with the Velocity Rewards infrastructure). Obviously I'm guessing, having very little knowledge of the actual back office structure, but it sounds like they are doing a lot of work to the infrastructure that supports Velocity. I would be consistent with Bullerdudes information. Perhaps they are finally migrating to the built-in SABRE rewards system, rather than relying on the old Velocity systems.

I logged in on Velocity site, went to 'My Bookings' - got taken to a page where I had to log in again.

Sigh.

Thread title still applies.

So it isn't just me then.

Will hit Platinum with VA this weekend... coincidence that my next flight booked is with QF? I think not.

No changes that I can see, I can log into Velocity and my SC and points balance looks correct, looks like nothing has changed, still can't retreive my corporate travel agent booked VA flights either through Velocity number or through 6 digit booking ref (even though I can find flights and eticket receipts all confirmed in Tripcase). I haven't tried to make a points booking yet but no real changes for me, nothing improved and nothing broken anymore than it was before yesterday for me.

It's hilarious that JQ has a better website than VA and has had so for a number of years now.

Yes, every other airline is perfect. :p

I have no issues with Qantas and more specifically the QF website works very well and has not had ongoing problems since the start of the year, that even after a weekend outage are still not fixed!

My flights credit within hours or a day MAX of flying, only ever had to chase missing points once and that was from the Xmas Vouchers

One wonders what VA's mobile strategy is — as a Software Engineer specialising in iOS it's pretty clear to me that Q has the far superior app; both for frequent flyers and just plain travellers. Design–wise as well.

VA still doesn't support Passbook's gate display facility, nor its real–time updating either.

If you're going to be a new world carrier it seems you need to adopt new world technology.

Still can't log in but I can check my bookings - fat lot of good that is. The new FY will see me switch back to QF to start the run to retaining QF Gold, as I will have 75% to Plat with VA (with 6 months to achieve). This lack of account access has been frustrated, I've had enough

Sounds like a good plan to me :)

join the club Lindsay, thats what I have done, although use VA to New Zealand due to much better route. It reminds me every time why I fly QF in Australia as getting points, status, accessing web with VA is frustrating. The staff at VA do a great job in sorting it out, but who wants to chase something that should be there? especially when you don't need to chase with the alternative.

Actually that was presumptuous of me, I can't access my account, so I don't actually know what has been credited or not.

Not surprised that others have switched back to QF as well. VA are doing a great job with the Sabre and Velocity debacles to shoot themselves in the foot. Been happy now with my decision to burn my points and give them only 1 revenue booking (my BNE/SYD/BNE yesterday). Have 4 sectors left to fly - BNE/ADL/BNE on Thursday and BNE/MEL/BNE in 2 weeks (all in J).

First flight is 2 July - just another BNE/SYD/BNE, maybe overnight so I can squeeze in an overnight stay at Hilton as well (my first stay at Hilton Sydney in 20+ years, I'm finally going to try it after years of avoiding it). Given my newly minted Diamond status ;)

Enjoy the Uni Cafe!

Doing 4 sectors on VA tomorrow. As a presently irregular user of VA, I've avoided most of the website etc fiasco, so will see how the hard product is standing up.

LW: I did SYD Hilton about a month ago; great for a short business stay, but rooms are still pretty small!

Has anyone noticed that they've faffed the my bookings section again? I'm getting nothing but a request that I put in my name and a booking number - no current bookings displayed.
