Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Here's a copy of the first email regarding Economy X (also mentioned again in 'April vnews', as per above):

Definitely didn't receive a similar email, although I note this particular email was targeted at WPs as it refers to "as a Platinum member. you and any travelling companions ...".

Neither did I receive that email, and I am subscribed to all of VA's communications.

I don't have status nor any activity in the previous month. That could be a reason?

Not that I'm really phased either way, because I know about it from other sources.

Rage post ahead!

Trying to book a last minute points flight on my mobile as I was out and the Virgin site keeps freezing up at the payment page. Try 3 times using different browsers and then give up. 15 minutes later I'm home and able to get on a computer and of course there are now no points flights available. Eurgh. Sort your **** out Virgin. Ended up booking a Qantas flight instead for double status credits.

Every time I try to select an Economy X seat on existing bookings the VA website errors out... how on earth do they let this get through testing???

Does anyone else get this message when logging in? once it appears on my screen if i type in www.velocityfrequentflyer.com it takes me to the home page and shows me as logged in
[h=1]HTTP Status 401 - Authentication Failed: Auth outcome: FAILED[/h]

I get that, but only on one computer. If you just click the back page arrow (IE) it takes you straight into the home page (at least it does for me).

I found the Economy X email but no mention of the slug of $29 for seat selection. Another 'enhancement'. It's making me look long and hard at going back to QF. Unfortunately without a status match that's going to be a difficult haul. If I could make it to LTG I'd be okay...

Hmm, now it has changed to this and I can't login at all!

I have said it before but not for a while so here goes again.

VA and Qantas have the worst web sites I ever have the need to continue using. The VA site is worse but the Qantas one isn't a long way behind. They both have errors that are ongoing for years which is appalling IMHO.

I tend to agree. I would have thought such a large % of their bookings/interaction come through the respective websites that it would be a priority.

In VA's case it appears very low on the list.

It's almost as though they want us to ring up.

Yeah - apparently its too difficult/expensive to hire the people to do a web site that works properly but having hundreds of customer calls coming into a Virgin call centre to do routine tasks is no problem at all?

... and wait on hold for ever.

I rand Qantas at 1am yesterday and still waited 8 min to listen to the operator adjust her headset and talk to the people around her before hanging up on me. I rang again and waited 7 min to spend about 2 min on the phone.

A more efficient service would be better for the customer, cheaper for Qantas and better for Qantas as people would ring happily rather than reluctantly. The call was for something that should have been available on line.

I tried logging on to Virgin and after having my account frozen I had to do a work through security to get a new log in password. So I do all that and then I get that dreaded 404 fail and give up. Rather than flying to Adelaide I think I will just do phone calls and emails.

OT: but it affects my VFF account as well as QFF account.
VFF account can be very slow at most times to respond, with the blank 5/6/7 word screen sometimes there for nearly a minute.
Right now, the QFF system is also on the blink.
I have several future bookings, in the past, the QFF future bookings show up on the laptop.
Of late though, the QFF system keeps says I have no current bookings.
Have to rely on the QF app on the Android to show correct bookings, but have to physically add PNR and surname each time to the app.
But I have at least 5 QF flight bookings coming up.
Scary thought, that in 2017, both the VA and also QF website still have bugs in them.
You would have thought in this day and age, that a lot of things would have been forseen/solved by now.

Try an app called "My Flights"

It links and updates all Amadeus bookings and you can manually add others.
