Vinomofo Wine Deals

was the popular consensus here that this was the better deal than the RSR, which is also back?
The RSR deal is sold out. I can only vouch for RSR as being a classical maybe on the fuller side Coonawarra Cab Sav, Bull Trader is 1/2 price of RSR so maybe on that basis it is a better deal. I never really have taken the liking to Coonawarra Shiraz, even Wynns BL shiraz... it is a personal preference clearly. Some folks loved it, so I thought I would share the deal! Using the $30 coupon, it takes it down to $10 so it is priced sharply.

Hi all, long time lurker on AFF but first time poster. Normally buy wines direct or from Dans but thinking of jumping on the Bull Trader Shiraz above. Can the black market deals be returned if they taste no good?

And anyone know off the top of their head the best deal for first time VM purchases?

Yes.

That's very subjective.

I loved the savoury tastes in the single vineyard enough that I bought 6 of this (with the $30 off code) as soon as I saw your post. If they can make the single vineyard so well I assume that this will be worth at least the $15 a bottle I paid.
Sea Glass arrived, had a bottle and I'm glad I bought it. It's in the same family as the single vineyard, while not as good, it has the same savoury notes but a bit more mouth filling and I think it will age well. Quality Pinot and amazing at the price.

Any thoughts on this pack?

I tend to avoid mixed packs as I can only assume that they are made up of all the "bad" wines that customers have returned. Once 1 or 2 bottles are missing from a case you need to mix and match...

Just grabbed this. Well known outfit (ex torbreck winemaker) and 2020 is a good vintage for Barossa.

Looks to be a VM exclusive but previously good reports on the cheaper riverside GSM.

I do not think 2020 is a good barossa vintage.
I beg to differ. It depends on how you look at it. The yield is down quite a bit so possibly not great for the wine producers there. But it is considered to be a very high quality vintage.

Advice I had from a Barossa winemaker for both 2019 and (especially) 2020 was 'try before you buy". Quality of outcome is quite variable depending on picking time decisions as well as luck with frosts etc. Personally I'm buying/waiting for 2021 reds, some stunners out already and plenty more to come over the next 2-3 years.
My tasting groups have already tried a lot of the early release 2021 reds (and bought some of them), the average quality and consistent sense of balance is way ahead of the 2020 reds we have tried.

I bought a 6er of the Powell GSM and people went wild for it, I enjoy it but it's a little light for me.

Tempted to give this one a go.

Lol, this is exactly what I got when buying a salvation case. They're weren't bad wines per se, but some weird and whacky bottles in the selection including a South African Pinotage.

Looks to be School House cab sav. Is this an ok drop?
I had 2019 vintage of schoolhouse cs and had to send it back. For the same money, I would much rather grab Reschke cs tbh.
