Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

More Lofty. Sigh... maybe I should.
=(

I am going to wait for the reviews or pick it up through a mixed case. I thought the Glenlofty Vineyard Pyrenees Shiraz 2012 was nice, but the oak was making it a bit green at the end of the palate - and that's the bit you remember, unfortunately.

Shame, as the smell and mid palate were very good for a wine under $9. This is serious knit-picking, I know, particularly when it's only $8.50 a bottle. And nothing I have had in the last few years comes close to the taste experience for that price point, except:

  1. the Jeannerat Westward We Went 2013 (a Cab blend), which - after some air time - was a lovely wine, and better than the Glenlofty Shiraz; and
  2. the Glenlofty Single-Vineyard Pyrenees Shiraz Viognier (which was a little less sharp at the end and slightly better than the straight Shiraz).

I am looking forward to the first reviews, and, of course - because it's a Glenlofty - a wine review poem from the literary genius of Beefarmer.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I think the Mornington Pinot is the Quealy 17 rows 2011.

Looks like it could be it - in.
I've enjoyed a few Quealy wines (Pobblebonk!) and their winery is a nice visit with a rustic, genuine vibe. If you get there on a quiet day, expect to be able to have a decent chat to Kathleen Quealy herself! She even let me and my partner have a wander around the property which was great.

Yes, I also enjoyed the Trapeze, although it did take some time to open up. I found it still a little young to appreciate fully.

Me also, quite enjoy the Victorian pinots.

Grabbed a case of the new GL - if it is not to my liking I will return it

(Minimal risk for me personally - my time is valuable enough to have staff who can say thanks to the courier when they eventually deliver or pick up a return)

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

What was the Trapeze? I bought some from the Fo a while back and thought it was quite good.

Trapeze was the 2014 so quite young. I did pour through an aerator and maybe would have been better if decanted and left a while but she-who-just-wants-a-glass-and-wants-it-now was waiting.

Seventeen hundred posts and you are worrying about a GL....hello

I've only purchased 3 versions of GL - all this year. (Missed the 2011) I loved the SV, liked the Shiraz and returned the CS.

The written language has betrayed me - I was actually attempting to state the exact opposite, that I have next to nothing* to worry about in purchasing this new release.

*My better half would disagree and is advising she does not like the Fo (following the arrival of a wounderful 120 bottle Vintec cellar) and is suggesting there is a risk of my marital bliss continuing with every "boom"

Yeah the case I got was the 2012.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Greetings mof_s. From a perusal of Halliday the new Black Market Margaret River Cab Sav would appear to be another Sandalford: Sandalford Estate Reserve Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2009. I 'boomed' the 2010 quite a while back, and it is very good. That wine was a bit more expensive at a smidgeon over $20 - VM's price on the 2009 is very keen. This could be due to lower Halliday points for the 2009 - the 2010 received 95. The decanter tasting of the 2009 here (http://greenpiper.com.au/files/2012/11/NOV12-Coonawarra-Margaret-River-Cabs1.pdf) is leading me to feel tempted though. Welcome your thoughts.
