Vinomofo Wine Deals

Argh....I have actually run out of storing/hiding places.

Glad I get on a plane to Europe next week. Will help me resist temptation to purchase more. Combined with a dinner party the night before we leave, am hopeful we can come back to a nice empty wine nook.

Touriga Blend - Quattro Mano Duende Pinta

I have bought a few of these from dans as an everyday quaffer... something different and good value at $18.
At $6.90… wow… get thee behind me satan.. now where the hell can I put it…...

A seriously good deal but like you, where do i hide, er, i mean store it?

Can you folks say what effect (if any) the 2011 vintage had on this wine? Or at $6.90 am I overthinking this?

Sorry carwashhair that I can't directly answer your question.
I was thinking along the lines of a wine that you would pay $18 for at a discounter like DM would certainly be a good deal for $6.90.

I just posted this on the other alko thread… :-)

Just a heads up for fine wine lovers.

Candamber fine wines .. aka www.discountwines.com are selling out their large storage cellar.
Release one email came only a few days ago and today release two.. so they must be flying out the door.

I ordered the Black Market Shiraz (2011 McLaren Vale - 94 Halliday) but have no idea what it is. Closest i've got is the Pertaringa Undercover 2011 but cant find a review to confirm. Any other leads?

Ha! Was just looking at the same thing.

I think it's the Mitolo Wines McLaren Vale Shiraz 2011 - Rating 94 - $25 (from the 2015 Wine Companion)

~take that back, has to be the one above.

I think you're right, 94 from Halliday but 87's and 88's from everyone else. Thats a big gap, even by Halliday standards

2011 is a bad year as a whole for McLaren Vale as everyone knows. Appears to be one of the better 2011 Shiraz' from the area. For $7.50, can't see it going that badly.

Guess also beware it's a 94 Special Value awarded points.

I think gaps like that are quite common. Halliday's use of the scale is absurd in my opinion.

https://www.cellartracker.com/content.asp?iContent=34 describes how the rest of the world tend to use it. Anything over 80 is considered a good wine and free from faults.

Touriga Blend - Quattro Mano Duende Pinta
Grenache Shiraz - Tapestry Grenache Shiraz
Adelaide Hills Cab Sav 2011 - K1 by Geoff Hardy Cab Sav
Victorian Shiraz 2011 - Glenlofty Single Vineyard

Can anyone confirm that the market cab sav was in fact the K1? This is what I thought I had ordered in the sale (@$126 per case) but on Friday 12 bottles of Chain of Ponds Amadeus 2011 Cab Sav arrived?

I recommended it as K1 based on similarities between this deal and a 2009 black market cab sav which a friend bought a month ago which was the K1. I wasnt aware the 2011 Amadeus was even released yet. Apologies for the misinformation

Don't worry - I actually had a feeling this is the wrong wine,so dug a bit and as it turns out the Amadeus was actually selling as a mystery deal case of six for around $18 per bottle. But now I'm confused and not sure what I should have received when I ordered this on 9 September:
BLACK MARKET DEAL Cabernet 2011

1
$126.00

I took a punt and purchased the contraband deal ($99 + del) so will report what it is when it arrives.

Received this wine yesterday.
Fox Gordon 2012 Eight Uncles Shiraz ($19.95 cellar door)
Will try a bottle next week.
Interested if anybody else has tried this wine and what you think.

Opened a bottle of the Braydun Hills Cellar Reserve Shiraz 2008 from last week (regular labelled deal) - thoroughly recommend. Would buy another dozen without thinking

My previous quote from up thread:

Interesting. I bought Fox Eight Uncles from Vintage Cellars a couple of weeks ago for an effective price of $8.57 a bottle (advertised price $14.99, plus bonus $25 cellar share when buying 6 plus triple points) - a couple of dollars more than VM price for a dozen, but I knew what I was buying!

Pretty decent wine for a little over $8 a bottle. Medium bodied savoury old world style, rather than usual Barossa big full bodied fruit driven Shiraz. Not sure I would be happy paying $20 a bottle.

Reminds me I still haven't received my bonus points or cellar share!

I paid $118 for it a few months ago, good drop esp for the price. Also bought the Fox Gordon's King Louis Cabernet and Hannahs Swing Shiraz but have yet to try them.

Black Market Cabernet from yesterday is most likely the Glenlofty Single Vineyard Cab Sav 2011.

I've tried the Glenlofty shiraz recently which i'm not super keen on but i think its more a style thing than anything else. Theres nothing wrong with it, i'm prob just getting too picky for an $8 wine. Some others in my buying group confirmed that they had drunk better wines from Vinomofo before for the price as well
