Vinomofo Wine Deals

On another note I just purchased the mixed case Black Market deal, 2 each of 3 reds and 3 whites. Works out at $8.68 per bottle inc freight so sounds ok to me. Better still I'm sharing the case with a friend.

I'm going to try a mixed case too. As addictive as the Fo is, I've had some less than stellar Black Market buys lately, so I'm trying hard to avoid the temptation to buy a dozen of anything I don't really know or want. Will stick to mixed cases or half dozens.

If it is the mixed case I purchased, sold out in 2 or 3 hours.

It does seem rather short. I went for the Barossa 2010 Shiraz for $25 a bottle. No idea what that is either but I fancied a flutter :)

I saw this, but it went very quickly... Was it VIM?

I sat on the fence, so similar to Dr Ralph, I look forward to your report on the mystery.

When I tried to work it out one thing was clear - Halliday certainly gave a hell of a lot of high scores out for 2010 Barossa Shiraz.

Maybe 2010 was a great year for Barossa Shiraz? Here's hoping he's right :)

For anyone wondering, I think the new VIC Shiraz 2012 could be the Greenstone Vineyard 2012 Shiraz.

Well if it is I am mighty tempted! It is supposed to be a great wine and 2012 Heathcote was a 10/10 vintage. Just wish it was available in a half case!!

As did I.

Usual price is around $95-110 that I can see.

I was going to but on Langtons, the 2006 isn't listed as a top vintage. $60 is definitely a decent price but you can get some pretty decent vino at that price. Anyone tried this vintage? Also anyone tasted the Bethany G6 before?

Saw that. I'm taking it that's a good deal then ? :)

Yes, price wise. Current vintage (2011) at DM's is $60. 2006 was a pretty strong vintage in SA for reds. I've not had this wine before, but has always been on my to try list. Read good things about it. Splitting the case with a friend, so can't go too wrong.

8 out of 10 is a pretty damn good vintage. While vintage charts are good as a guide, they aren't the final word on the quality of a specific wine either.

Yes I noticed Langtons gave the region an 8/10 for 2006 but if you go into the wines list where the Block 6 is listed under Outstanding you can click onto the wine where it gives a summary and indicates what the best vintages of that particular wine are.

Also splitting my case. Best way to try lots of new wines :D

Rumoured to be the Hannah's Swing (Fox Gordon)

Ok, to end the suspense this was indeed the 2010 Hannah's Swing.
At least that's what some lucky people received. I got the 2012 version :(

2010...thats what I said when it was brought up as it was 2.50 more but looked exactly the same! Maybe its the 2010!? I would of paid the extra $2.50 a bottle

A 2010 was advertised but you got a 2012? If so you've paid $2.50 a bottle more than you should have, as the 2012 sold for $22.50 a bottle about 6 weeks ago.

It's a shame the description given by Vinomofo didn't match the wine at the time. Based on the description given it could not have been the 2010 Hannah's Swing. Vinomofo are becoming increasingly misleading and deceptive in the information they provide. This certainly isn't the first time they've provided incorrect information about a black market wine. When it had occurred previously I had thought it may have been accidental, but this cannot be the case as it has now occurred several times.

They did have the 2010 apparently. I called up and was advised that's what had been dispatched to me. Unfortunately the box said otherwise so it's getting returned.

Anyone tried the Poonawatta 1880 Shiraz 2009 they currently have for $39.90 a bottle? I've drank a few Poonawatta wines in the past and have been to a wine dinner where their wines were showcased (I think I've posted about these in the nice wines thread!), but not this one. They make great wine.
