Vinomofo Wine Deals

Got a goodbye email from my broker this week. That's the fourth or fifth one, and I don't think he ever actually rang me. Wonder who I'll get next.

Thanks for all the comments on Hannah's Swing - have jumped on board.

On the subject of much talked about Secret wines, in particular probably one of the most talked about secret wines, the Mitolo Cantiniere ...

After being much talked about, it went quiet without many (if any) comments about what it actually tasted like!

Anyone care to share? I've got three bottles (split 6 with a mate), haven't tried it yet.

Also gave in and got a 6 pack of Hannah's Swing. Thanks for all the comments to buy!

However vinomofo states it is now 'on back order' and won't arrive for around 10 days.

Eek, did we order too much! Interesting they have a 'secret deal' that can order more of, I would have thought they would have a certain supply. Or, maybe they have the option to order more?

I look forward to the end of April! :)

They're not hired as full timers, so to be expected (I posted a job listing in here months ago which proved it).

More hit and miss in terms of how helpful they are. Some call when they have good wines they know I'll like, others I never hear a peep from.

That's good! , better they are there as you need them, than constantly calling to cold sell, too many wine brokers calling are like all the charities, they always seem to call when you are in the middle of something. And besides, its my time and i like to choose when i need to speak to someone. But it would be a good thing for personal specific alerts.

agree with AC, it was polarising. It was nice enough but in my view not worth it - better things for the price.

It was an extremely mediocre wine, over hyped with the hyperbole, that drank no better than a wolf blass red label. Just about sums it up in actual fact, I think I would go for the wolf.

Confirmed, and may need some quiet time for itself to reflect and grow, I am not an experienced wine reviewer so my descriptions come directly from uninformed senses☺ First aroma ok, but detected a scent I refer to as cheap Aust. Lambrusco, but that could be it is still immature. Apart from that slight whiff, it is still a nice red with character.
Steady, i said i'd let you know re the Gunda...well in Dame Edna's words..Spooky! I thought OMG, it's a shiraz knock off of my favourite Tassie Pinot from Blustery Banks at Spreighton. Only one better in Tas, but slightly pricier, over on the East Coast at Cranbook. Yes i do love the Gunda shiraz, glad i got it. But can you tell me what the slight bitterness in the aftertaste is? Is that what everyone refers to as pepper?
I think its the tannins ensuring at least a dozen tears ...haha.....spellcheck for those that missed out , ahead of it. Bitter..........danke

I believe that's my line..Danke beefarmer
Although it's not good news, that means both those wines, the Mule and the Gundagai shiraz, will need to be cellared (hidden at back of old wood wardrobe in guestroom) for a minimum! of 12 monthsi'm not much of a collecter, i just want a seriously good quaffing wine at a reasonable price. But as to which is most likely to come out the most delicious drop, my money is on the Gundagai, tannins can be tamed with time, whereas my experience with wines that smell or taste like cheap Lambrusco don't tend to change their colours no matter what the treatment. Although i'm probably being a little harsh on the Mule, time will tell.

I sill haven't opened mine yet, however words cannot describe how disappointed and cheated I felt when the delivery arrived. Being new here I didn't see previous postings on the matter but I am fully prepared for this to be a quaffer, dinner party 4th bottle of the night type wine. Time will tell.
