Vinomofo Wine Deals

for what its worth this appears to be
[h=1]Salomon Estate Braeside Vineyard Finniss River Cabernet Sauvignon[/h]

Their website looks a bit moribund and very few outlets put forward for their products, having said that JH named them as one of his "Dark horse wineries" in 2013 the year of this Cab Sav's vintage, it looks like quality gear but not much info out there on the interweb.... For anyone wondering, I opened a bottle of the 2004 'The Lane Reunion Shiraz' tonight - Allowed a few hours to air, still hugely disappointed. Sending it back if I can - (Unless by some weird reason someone wants in Sydney!). Not worth $10, or the the $24 I paid yet alone the $75 RRP.

Always worthwhile hearing from a punter (like ourselves) just how the wine in question shaped up, I frequently scratch my head wondering how some of VM's offerings that I've bought for $10-12 could have ever fetched $50-75 in the marketplace, I"d feel doubly cheated!

Totally agree. The price you pay is more realistic to what the wine is worth not the so called cellar door price. The auction market gives you more of an insight into what a wine is really worth by looking at the prices people pay at auction. I would say thats one reason they have a 365 day return policy. Cheers Rug

The RRP has no real reflection on what the wine may be worth - the winery comes up with that number (often using their heart to guide them rather than a logic).
VM use the RRP in presenting the offer to the market at what seems like a massive discount so the buyer thinks it is a great deal.

The product is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it!

I had a glass of this last Saturday night too, a friend bought it over. Diabolical stuff, all the freshness has faded, short on the palate, might have been nice 5-10 years ago. I suggested he send it back, but he has a taste for older wines and thought it was "adequate".

I know someone whose taste for older wines means they are usually brown and rather past it...such a waste.

I thought VM's policy was that the wine on offer HAD to be available at least at some other outlet(s) at the price quoted as RRP and have often been quick to ensure that it is (i.e. reputable wineries have magically overnight stocked the wine at VM's pre-discounted price to comply with the aforementioned policy). But totally agree that the marketplace will ultimately dictate the worth/monetary value of a wine, my wine-buying habits have changed radically in the last 8-10 years to a point where I rarely if ever visit a bricks and mortar establishment as so few offer the heavy discounting available on-line...

The Giant Steps Merlot Yarra Valley is back! This time it's 2013 with an unfortunate but probably worthy price-tag of $19.90.

Hi all. I've just recently started using a broker at mof_ HQ. She's picked great wines for me so far, so I'm pretty happy with the service. Just wondering if anyone has noticed the time difference in the delivery times? When I was buying on my own online, it would take anywhere between 5 days to 14 days sometimes. But each time I order through the broker, it comes in less than a week. Is this perk with using a broker?

Or they're just pushing what they have in (excess) stock and can move it more quickly.

Hmmm, hard to know really. I'm a romantic so I think I'll stick with it being a perk rather than a convenient sale to move excess stock;)

My latest order has been caught up with the 'mislabeled' stock....me being a pessimist is calling BS on this.

Been over a week and it still hasn't shipped yet, expected deliver 7+days.

Any ideas on today's BM Shiraz from Barossa... $100 down to $34?

Probably this (Tony Keys review), it was offered by Cracka in March for $35.
Allegiance Wines ‘Unity’ Barossa Valley Shiraz 2014: Intense sums it up, but to start at the beginning. The nose is incredible it’s all things nice not sugar but spicy fruit cake on the palate it goes forever deep, deep flavour curling and griping python like to all pleasure points and slowly squeezing all that can be squeezed out of each one. 98 points $100 is high but if the wallet allows than buy it.
