Vinomofo Wine Deals

Anvers 2010 - On the palate .....of dark plum & prune fruits are complemented by chocolate, arise & black pepper accents. None of this sounds terribly close to what VM have written also cant find anything with Halliday and the 2010 vintage.

Either VM have written some porky pies which the good Dr has alluded to, I too have witnessed some discrepancies previously, or it's neither the Anvers nor the Brochenchack.

Any other ideas ?????????????

The VM tasting notes is most likely just their impressions of the wine. Tasting notes are far from an exact science

Whatever it is, it will be good. If anyone has some time, watch the fourteen minute video on the Anvers web site.....pour one and enjoy the viewing

I still think its Anvers. Another clue is the fact that VM have been running the standard McLaren vale Shiraz from these guys for a little while now. And that too is no longer on Anvers website. JH and VM tasting notes don't match up too well with that on either.

Anyone tried the Anvers, I wonder how they can sell a product for $58 that Halliday rates at 94 points ? if it is Anvers is $17 a more realistic price ?

Any guesses to what today's $17.40 2010 Shiraz - down from $58- is??

Interesting that this wasn't a VIM deal.

What makes a VIM deal? Premium wine? Higher percentage off the RRP? Limited stocks available? Or is there no set criteria?

I bought a salvation case a few months ago and it had a couple of gems so I took another punt on the XVI that was out last weekend. It arrived today and I can't say I'm very impressed. It was basically a black market mixed case with none over $14 VM price. Total value of all 12 being $138 (VM price not RRP), so the so called free delivery was not free as I paid $149. The salvation case is just a way to offload unsold black markets.

I think most people know that. I don't think it's all that cheap. But it is a reasonable way to get a variety of wines, rather than a whole case of the same.

I've bought a couple of salvations in the past and whilst I've not been disappointed I certainly wouldn't claim that I've been impressed either.

dr Ralph, you said you had the shelmerdine merindoc sixty five bucker recently. i have had two in the last few weeks. how do you rate it?

I know I have some in the cellar. But I can't remember if I've tasted it recently and if I have I can't actually recall anything about it.

I thought it was absolutely stunning, medium to full, great fruit with incredible finesse. lovely lingering finish with great fruit. a classic cool climate with fruit and oak in great balance. get one out soon !!

Can't recall, what year was it (2010)?

Normally I've got an 8 year rule when it comes to Reds.

First post and first purchase from Vinomofo - purchased mof_ SECRET DEAL Shiraz 2011 last week and arrived today - Haselgrove Catkin - very nice drop for $14 certainly not complaining.. Also bought the shiraz barossa deal @ 9.90 I think from memory.. - McGugan The Shortlist 2011 - will crack it open over the weekend and hope for the best! This is likely to become addictive..

Well it's sold out now. All gone.
Identity revealed soon. :p

Cracked a hewitson Mother vine tonight.
A bit fresh straight up .. but now I'm half way and on my limit… I want more..
Don't think I will manage to keep it long… should have bought more...

Both of the hewitsons sounded fantastic..great reviews and both had the I wish I was there moment....by the side of that pool with the the beautifully positioned barossan version shiraz....I am a man of juxtaposition and I reckon anyone who takes their wine outside to take a picture of it before noon is either a digital slr fan or an alcoholic or a serious fan of colour and contrast...
