Vinomofo Wine Deals

I've just been scouring the interweb for reviews of the 2018 which seem to be alnigh non-existent, Vivino offers up four stars for a spread of vintages (but not the 2018) but also with wildly varying descriptions, with something like Greenock Creek's shiraz for example, as a yardstick, will this baby be big enough?

Reasonably positive review for 2017 version on qwine Yelland and Papps Devote Greenock Shiraz 2017

Given 2018 was a cracker year in Barossa for the lovers of more fuller.. fruit right between your eyes style.. I’d say it is a safe bet particularly underwritten by the mof_ return policy

The 2017 was a little lean (13.5%) and possibly a little bretty, mixed reviews from my members, despite 96 pts from JH who went mad for 2017 vintage wines when almost no one else did.
Vintage 2018 should be a little riper and fuller (maybe, listed at 13.9%) but failed to rate high enough for a TN to be published by Tyson Stelzer on Wine Companion.
Personally, the "modern" style of earlier-picked Barossa Shiraz mostly leave me cold, 14.5% is the sweet spot still for me.

Another day another mystery wine, I'm reasonable certain this has got to be a Chateau Tanunda Shiraz, it's been offered before by VM although the 2018 vintage, any guesses? Shiraz 2019 – Black Market Deal #40979

Nope, Bethany. Same as 40393 in 6-packs @ $19.90

Thanks chaps, the 150 yo vines had me thinking it might be Tanunda but of course that's their Semillion, I seem to recall sending back a Bethany red quite a while back, I appreciate the intel....

Hi all,
Quick report on the Sophia. Had the second bottle on Saturday, 2.5hrs decant. This time much more fruit on the nose and palate than the first bottle, still very smooth and refine. Pretty big bottle variation IMO.
Anybody had similar experience?
Cheers
Yes, I’ve experienced bottle variation too.

First bottle was fantastic.
The second was oxidised the cork came out far too easily and I had to tip it away.
VM playing a numbers game on who would be notice and return it. Hoping my others are okay because I cannot return them now…

I'd contact VM for some kind of reimbursement/account credit. They tend to be pretty good with these type of things

@Whining&dining maybe go for the Reschke Empyrean with your account credit?

Why can’t you return them?

Serious question.

Do many people in here, buy wine at the recommended retail price...let's say something that was rated 96 points and above by JH and compare it to wine around the same value from VM? Plenty of JH96+ for $25 & above

Nobody here buys wine at RRP!

I buy a lot of single bottles in mixed 6/12 packs for tastings, either wines I know from previous vintages or new wines that either match what I'm looking for and/or have high scores from reviewers I trust.
At times they have been matched with Vinomofo bought wines.
I would have to go back through a lot of tasting sheets to be precise, but in most cases the wines I bought from VM hold their own quite well at the price paid and sometimes against more expensive wines. Some don't and very occasionally get sent back.
In probably a greater percentage of cases the high pointed Wine Companion wines perform at a lesser level than their high scores would indicate.

Wendouree is the only wine I pay original price for. It isn't actually a recommended retail price though as they don't supply to retail outlets.

VM have a small promo running at the moment - because its 22/2/22

Spend $222 and get $22 off (code 2222)
oh and apparently only for the first 222 customers....;)
