Must say I've had my interest piqued by this one, the tasting/vintage notes read pretty well, hmmmm Tasting Notes & Resources - Nick Haselgrove Wines, McLaren Vale SA
Something spooky going on here WandD. Logged on as I was just thinking that one of my most favoured Shotfire 2018 Quartage which popped up here at $15 a bot with free delivery has well and truly returned to form. I thank you for mentioning it a couple of weeks back. Greatly appreciated. After about 90minutes of air it really opened up to exhibit a good one in the making which will improve. A bit closed early but still showing heaps of body and nothing unpleasant which is always important. It's a unique four grape blend which has worked a decade or so ago to ethereal levels but the last one I tried had me thinking two buck chuck. Isn't is a funny thing that when you back 30 years, it's predominantly the even years that stand out. Amazing really although i do remember the 2009 South Oz reds were really good. Now I am off to the casino to back the evens.

What about this for under $10?

Claymore Wines London Calling

There is now a distinctive clash between this london calling and the reschke for the potential 'cheapie' bargain of the year. Or so it seems. I certainly know which one Dr ralph backed but the regalia on the claymore suggests it could be mine. Enough with the ra puns zels already. Both look good to be honest and I am going to have a sleep on it before I seek clarification from Tom Hanks. Which of Drus labels is on the red? Is it Vitulus or Bos folks?

Gotta say, I’m not sold on the “cool, irreverent” branding for wines, I’m still more of a traditionalist, so it would be the Reschke for me. That said, I still keep buying the 6 for just over a hundred deals rather than the $10-11 deals….last purchase was the Gaelic Cemetery White Hut, not yet delivered.

Shiraz deals are a dime a dozen - I would go for the Cab Malbec for something different.
Reviews suggest its a good quaffer
You’ve almost convinced me - just need someone in Melbs to post on the share-a-case thread ;-)

Funny name but the Riesling sounds very impressive so it should flow to this as well. Sometimes the Clare impresses with their reds. Something a bit different may some up the better ones.

Had the Claymore's Dark Side of the Moon Shiraz (years ago admittedly) and was a teeny bit underwhelmed, not saying it was a bad wine it just wasn't one that lived up to expectations. The only Reschke I've had is the Bos which is Cab Sav but thoroughly enjoyed it, I must have, there's only one left in the cellar from a dozen!

Any recommendations for VM Blackmarket offers in the $20-$30 price range ATM? I love WA Cab Sauvs and a good Barossa/SA Shiraz.

I'm considering this one which is Haselgrove The Lear 2020 AFAIK. Had popped up a few times this year on VM (not sure if same Vintage). Has a solid 4.3 on Vivino.

The Pirramimma Heritage Shiraz seems to be a great offer.

Alternatively something from Langtons. Pretty certain that's Tahblik 2016 Eric Stevens Purbrick Shiraz:

While everyone has a different taste, any thoughts would be welcome.

Cheers

Mishoney may i present for your reading enjoyment some literary prose covered in so much candle wax embellishment that there is a lyric there somewhere. Warm wax on hot bodies might just be the start of a new song, one that Joe Strummer could have written. He is immortal of course and the cover of the wine appears to pay hommage but even though he died 20 years ago this December 22nd he still lives and breathes. A bit like this Clare offering. It reminds me of the Clare Valleys Pikes Los Companeros blend of shiraz and tempranearhole as i like to call that varietal . The double elles catch me out just like semy yons used to. So suffisticated I used to be. It's semi lon of course. But the Los Companeros was stunning and a Fo deal a few years ago. Of course shiraz deals are plentiful but please show me those shiraz deals that are a dime a dozen, ones worth drinking, as I would be in there faster than a rat up a downpipe backing up the truck faster than Dr Ralph loading his boot. Did you know a dime bag is ten dollars worth of street drugs? See not a day wasted so far. So here are some words about this wine, carefully read then I will raise something later.

Reviewer 1 - Beautifully complex with good, clean black bramble fruit, laden with undertones of coffee, chocolate, wood and bay leaf. The palate is refined with fleshy fruit, well-balanced with good acidity and rich, ripe tannins. An overall excellent wine that shows complexity. Trophy, Gold Medal & 95 Points London International Wine & Spirit Competition 2021

Reviewer 2 - This works so well, with rich and ripe dark-berry and plum aromas and flavors. The palate has rich, fleshy fruit and holds such silky, long and fine tannin. So drinkable. Drink or hold. Screw cap. Tasted: October 2021; Rating: 93 Points; Nick Stock for James Suckling

Reviewer 3 -Beautifully ripe and perfumed, the wine shows blackberry, sweet plum, warm spice, thyme and cedar characters on the nose. It's equally attractive on the palate with excellent weight and fruit intensity, making it immediately appealing and highly enjoyable; Now to 2030; Price: $22.00; Rating: 93 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit

Gold Medal & 95 Points - Melbourne International Wine Competition

So reading all of those gives me a basic feel about the wine. Sure some of these writers are about as creative as a Mills and Boon writer or heaven forgive and for those who can remember a Heartbalm reviewer from the Truth newspaper decades ago," ohh mammaries pressed between the pages of my mind, memories sweetened through the ages just like wine". You have to hand it to Elvis, and what a great movie, but how topical was this lyric from the King. I digress but I am now going to suggest that nothing in the above to me suggests a quaffer. Constants include good fruit, great body, silky finish, quality and overdelivering. These are my holy grails. Throw in a good price and the mind starts to play tricks on you. I think the adjective quaffer after reading the above may not apply. But and this is the big but almost as big as queen latifas, no one has tried it yet so it is possible the 3 reviewers above were Mills and boon writers in past or present life. Thankyou very much. Elvis has left the building.

Thanks @beefarmer - now I can't get rid of that Clash song out of my head!

I grabbed the Nick Haselgrove Clarence Hill Reserve Shiraz linked above for $21.50
I enjoyed the Pirramimma as a quaffer but trying to avoid 12 bottle buys these days

I have done the same. I have enjoyed The Old Faithful and Clarence Hill Reserve CS that I thought was sublime - purchased both previously from Vinomofo so needed very little convincing to boom on the Shiraz from the same people.
