There is so much $10 or even sub-$10 wine coming onto the market at the mo it's doing my head (and wallet) in, I've gone trigger-happy and now I want gun down the latest offering of the Fox + Hounds, someone stop me....

VMfo called me as I had a watch on this wine - pulled trigger on a couple of boxes. Family loved this wine last time it was available.

I know, but I've three cases in transit at the moment and it's probably one too many unfortunately. Maybe the 'Fo will do their repeat offer deal a bit later on and I can snap it up then...

You can buy standard reserve durif from Nicks Wine Merchants (one of Beekeepers haunts) in Doncaster East Victoria as well as the shiraz, zifandel and cabernet ( in Parolas limited release versions 2013 as well at the moment) at almost the same price as winery ($34.90) except you dont have to buy them by the case. Also my Hart delivery back out to Tuesday 23rd. Cheers.

I got the Zin & Durif a few months back, both Parola's & Reserve. The Reserves are exceptional & great value, but the Parolas are on another level altogether. Somehow not subject to the usual law of diminishing returns. In a feeble attempt to stay on topic, haven't been especially tempted by VM lately - their Pinot & Riesling offers haven't raised my pulse. Which is just as well if you could see the cardboard, glass & wine jungle that is my spare room ...

It's still tempting - I'm not sure about the 2004 Savitar with its cork, but if the other wines are valued at $100/bt then $10/bt for the Savitar seems reasonable...

I've just spent too much at Langton's and now there's the AmEx offer for WineStar - not happy with their $20 delivery cost for orders of less than six bottles

So, how Sweet it is that the Fox is on the run, chased by all us Vinomofo hounds. Last year's shiraz was beautiful indeed. This year's blend has me slightly worries, as the link to the tasting notes suggests a shorter than normal life for this one. Contrast that with the 2024 VM expiry and someone has to ask . Love is like oxygen but hopefully this blend is as good as last year's.

There are considerable sub ten dollar juicy morsels out there getting ready for a ballroom blitz.

And, like a few wines that we may procrastinate over and ultimately miss, take it from my second last girlfriend. The next is always better.

She was ultimately correct. She was my penultimate girlfriend. Now my wife, my last girlfriend, is the ultimate. Ahhh, shucks.

Have been a long time fan of Warrabilla and the winemaker is a fellow Ironman.Their wines are awesome and can get up to 18%

Thanks Rug have now got my third case of wine in a week and a half on its way-note to oneself: "must keep order details secret from Mrs W&D"

Just looked up the Warrabilla Parola's limited release Durif and apart from the description of a "Hippo in a tutu" which I love incidentally, I'm heartbroken to see that it is well-nigh unavailable (2013 vintage) but the 2015 is showing on their site. Must admit the $145 for a dozen of their 55% Shiraz 35% Durif 10% Cab Sav 2015 cellar door cleanskin is mighty tempting too!

I pulled the trigger. Suckling gave the Homage 98 points, and other scores look good. Have had the '05 and '06 Savitar from the 'Fo recently and both have been fine (obviously no gaurantee that a particular '04 bottle wouldn't have a dodgy cork) so I think the odds are good. I'm more worried about the Cote Rotie - I'm hoping that one's worth the money.

I am still working through last vintage, so I will have to resist.

Actually enjoying a 2013 Shiraz as we speak.

Edit: That resolve lasted all of a minute when I re-assessed my stocks!

Thought I recall BF rang them (winery) on the last vintage and it was a 'planned for export' (i could very well be wrong, this was awhile ago)?

Whether it is or isn't or is made for VM, doesn't really matter as long as it has the goods, and based on the 2013 which was considered one of the best bargain buys last year, it's worth the punt
