Vinomofo Wine Deals

I thought the same but cannot find either of the 90 or 91 pt reviews for the wine. Glenlofty website is far from helpful.

Has anyone actually tried the Common Ground Cab Sav? Reviews read well.

I have had a bottle of it a few weeks back when my case arrived. Don't usually take notes but I definitely enjoyed it for a cheap quaffer. Few hrs of air from memory.

I enjoyed it! Far better than the 10 Chains I purchased at the same time :)

I'm Keen to know the Mclaren Vale Shiraz though.

2014 Shiraz $21 - $9

Anyone else pull the chain and find out that it didn't taste so good??

Would todays latest offering of 2014 Cab Sav possibly be the Claymore 'Bittersweet Symphony'?

If so any thoughts?

Bittersweet Symphony Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Got some for a similar price from WineDirect when they had their 30% off thing. It seems extraordinary that it's labelled as a cabernet, the malbec character is extremely prominent on both nose and palate, if I'd tasted it blind I'd have said it was a malbec. If that floats your boat it's certainly a nice wine at the $12.50 price point. And this may be a superficial observation - but it also has a nice label. We aficionados of the screwcap have to find the romance in something.

Yep I stand corrected. Looks like it may be the iii Associates. It sounds like a new deal, but an old post here indicates they've had this deal before. Bit underwhelmed now
Ahh well JRod, it's not the eligo; but the 111 Associates guys make v good wine via Brian Light from memory, who I think was a driving force for Ulithorne.
There were good reports back on this thread for this wine, so I'm happy. The assessment on arrival is always v interesting(can't wait to my tentacles into this in view of the squids around this label).

That's certainly enlightening AC, and Beefarmer called ME a harsh marker! So a margin of 4-5 points separating heaven and hell, wow. Unfortunately I can't peruse the Wine Front material as I'm not a subscriber but Phillip White is certainly an ardent fan...

My lowest rating wines are in the 85-86 bracket. Well, I taste stuff below that, but I can't be bothered taking photos and posting about those. They're the "down the sink" type stuff. FWIW, I use the CT guidelines adjusted by one bracket:
86-89 - Good
90-91 - Very Good
92-93 - Excellent/Outstanding
94-97 - Amazeballs (never got beyond 94)
97+ - wine I can't afford :)

III Associates makes some pretty good, big, bold stuff. Pretty sure I've read some good reviews around the traps for this. If you like the III Associates style, this could be a good-value purchase. Just saying.

Thanks for the elucidation...

see post #10034. Cheers

Whilst I appreciate the tough scoring, I would not be happy peaking at 94. Furthermore, who says wine you can't afford will deliver that 5 point extra wow factor?
Each to their own...scoring systems.

I have to agree, as I've had pointed out to me before on this forum, a JH 89/90 is virtually announcing that said wine has no redeeming features at all, I can't recall seeing an AC rating below 89/90 since I've been looking at the VM deals etc, it is a very narrow bandwidth...It might actually be enlightening to post about the wines that are in fact s**t or borderline just to contextualise the better ones and as an "early warning system", just saying :)
